City of Chicago Statement

The City of Chicago is taking the appropriate measures to ensure the safety of all residents around Mexican Independence Day commemoration activities, including all weekend events citywide. As tens of thousands of residents are coming together to celebrate and embrace their rich heritage, we remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all those participating in the celebratory activities as well as residents and workers in the affected areas.

There are no planned street closures at this time, :lol:

however residents can expect possible increased traffic activity within the Central Business District.

When passing in the street, is it law they have to honk in acknowledgement of each other's stick flag?

Giangreco finding out the freedom that comes with not worrying if youll get fired for tweeting something perfectly reasonable but wouldnt be able to if he were still employed .

It sounds like he's hearing the frustration of local citizens who were pissed because every exit and street was closed. Forcing them to drive around for over an hour to find an alternative route OR run out of gas.

The Big Two Irritants are St Patrick's and Gay Pride. The Mexicans are a distant 3rd, albeit they've really stepped their game up the last 5-7 years.

You should see what white people do to downtown Galena in the fall.

I wonder if there are Americans / ex-pats living abroad when the 4th of July hits , are allowed to jump in their cars , have the cities in which they live make special accommodations for them, close off streets for 2 days so they can form caravans , clog up traffic , wield machetes , assault police and passerbys , etc.

Blaming The Mexicans doesn't make sense to me. They didn't cause the inconveniences. It was idiotic city leaders.

Either way I would get aggravated if it affected me.
