The way we're going it's going to be the last play of the last game if the season and guys here and in the city are gonna seriously say to themselves "well if he nails this throw maybe you go into next year with him as the guy, but if he misses this throw maybe he's not the one"

It was "he has six games to prove it" and then it was "he has five games to prove it" and now we are at three games to prove it and yeah, Green Bay will eventually be his last day to prove it.

I’ve tried to learn from my Mitch apologist tour. It is really rough given Fields’ immense and unique talents to give up on him. But his lack of pocket presence and inability to read defenses are major flaws. And if you let him Mike Vick it, he will not survive a season.

You're a good man. I would just disagree with your use of the word "talent". He has great physical traits (speed, strength, etc). But he lacks the talent one needs to translate those traits into being a top tier QB.

Good enough to play in the league. Not good enough for the contract he will get. Time to move on.

I think that's a bit too premature. You should at least see how his next two pass attempts go before making a decision.

I'm waiting to see how much he tips for valet parking before I make my final decision.

But somebody is going to convince themselves that Fields is an acceptable consolation prize for not landing one of the young QB or other free agents. And they are going to pay him way too much money for what he can accomplish.

To me the better NBA comp is Ben Simmons. Good at one thing and a complete liability at all other core aspects of the job.

Even after the season ends I want to see how he does during offseason strength resistance drills before I make a call.

Actually, I think it's a good sports conversation because there are so many angles. There are at least three separate factors that will dictate what the Bears do:

1. How does the brain trust view Fields' potential? They see him in practice and should know better than anyone whether the issues are fixable.
2. The contract -- he will soon be expensive.
3. Will they end up with the #1 pick (or even #2).

I think even if they believe he can be a top 10-15 QB, the other two factors will prevail because they get to reset the contract clock and the new QB might be a top-5 talent. The only way I see them keeping Fields is if they fall out of the top two picks. Then things get would interesting, especially if they get Harrison.

I think the best chance he stays would be if through scouting/pro days/etc., Poles decides he doesn't want any of the top few QB prospects. Then they keep Fields for another season, trade the #1 pick for some combination of future first round picks that can be used on a QB later (if 2024 Fields looks similar to 2023).

It's a possibility and the one I choose. Build an obnoxiously talented team and wait for a QB to show up. There are a couple examples in Philly and SF. Detroit might not be all that, but they are a force to be reckoned with.

Detroit would love Matthew Stafford right now. They are a quarterback away from being arguably the best team in the NFC.

At this point, I think Fields is great and another team would be lucky to get him for only a first round pick.

All we need is Ryan Pace and GM Dolphin to start a bidding war.

I hope he plays well in a loss to the Falcons.

Joe Flacco is seemingly finding his bearings. And all he did was show up to a team with obnoxious talent.

They've got talent...on defense.

Their superstar RB went out weeks ago. They have one star wide receiver. That's about it. It underscores Fields deficiencies all the much more.

The browns and bears are virtually tied in pass block win rate. The bears are far superior in run block win rate. Why is the browns offense ranked 10 in scoring while the bears are 21st? Hmm...
