I got a speeding ticket a few months ago and contested it. The hearing was today, and I lost.

A speed camera clocked me going 28 in a school zone. The problem is it was almost 10 am, and no children were present. They mailed me a photo of a gentleman getting out of the passenger side of a car.

At the hearing, the administrative judge shows me the video. For literally a split second, you see a piece of what may have been a book bag go in and out of the video of the camera. It happened so quickly, that it took about over a minute for the judge to pause it on that image. He acknowledged he wasn't certain it was a child but said he had to rule in the city's favor because 3 technicians looked at the video.

I'm fairly certain it'll cost more to appeal the ruling than paying the $35. The spirit of the speed limit posting is to get drivers to slow down when kids are going to school or coming from school. It isn't something that is there to nickel and dime drivers in the event a child may be present at any time of the day and up to 11 pm at night.

It wasn't a cop. It was a camera and a few brain dead city workers. No cop in America writes me a ticket for that.

I got a $100 fine in the mail for blowing a Red Light camera. They enclose the picture with it which made me laugh sardonically. I had just passed by it and NO ONE was around. So without context the picture shows a pretty serene scene. I wanted to send it back with crayon prison lines around my car.

I got a ticket today for parking in the "monthly" section of the Route 59 Metra lot, even though I could have swore that starting Jan 1 they ended the monthly permits at the Naperville and Route 59 lots. I paid the daily fee and the lot was mostly empty as it is on Fridays, but the fucker still wrote me a $50 ticket.
