We actually used to do this during the soft ball unit in high school P.E.: "Weren't you just up four batters ago?" "No, I haven't batted in two innings." |

JR can’t be for this. The Sox don’t have anyone worthy of the title. |

This idea is so stupid it is stupid. The game hasn’t lost appeal because Judge can’t bat in the situation the Yankees want him at the plate in. The game has lost appeal lost appeal because each game has 20 strikeouts and 10 walks, starting pitchers don’t complete 5 innings, and a parade of 4-6 relievers pitch in every game for each team. The solution is easy. Each team is limited to 4 pitchers per game. You’ll see K’s and walks drop drastically when a guy has to get into the 7th inning each start. |

Post subject: | Re: Rob Manfred |
this idea came up pre-pandemic by one 'baseball executive' as it was reported. the argument was that in the NBA, you get your star to shoot the ball with the game on the line. In the NFL, you got your Tom Brady's of the world to make a final drive to win the game. So baseball wanted something like that and the idea was last AB in the 9th, the home team gets to pick 3 batters out of the line up to bat. Looks like now they reduced that down to 1 batter but same idea. The great thing about baseball is you don't need a big name to come up with a big hit to be a great moment. the nobody who gets the game winning hit is what's so great about baseball. So American about baseball. |

No one knows how to pitch a ballgame anymore. They never have to learn. All they're asked to do is go out and throw nasty stuff one time through the lineup. |

The problem is a bunch of Ivy Leaguers figured out the best way to win ballgames and that way makes for a brand of baseball that is unwatchable. One Post is offering a solution to get the game back to "the way it's supposed to be played." There are other solutions but it is a problem that must be solved. |

I used to get the mlb.tv package because I'm a sucker for daytime sports working from home but eventually I found Dan Patrick and The Price Is Right to be more compelling. |

So MLB shouldn't make changes to appease people like you who "aren't interested in baseball" (your words) that will destroy things about the game that are important to people who are interested in baseball like Douchebag and KDdidit. If I asked you to make ten changes to the game that might make you more interested and Rob Manfred implemented them all, how many more games would you attend? How many more innings would you watch? |

It's what One Post expressed as well. Is there a way back? I don't know. But any changes in the game should be focused on the de-emphasis of the strikeout and the walk, i.e. emphasizing more balls in play. |

Like completely. I have two adult kids who played. They watch zero baseball. It needs foundational change or the bleeding out will continue. |

I still watch soccer and baseball because I don't have a problem watching boring sports. The lack of balls in play thing is the biggest turn off though. Hey Hey! |

I'll add that strikeouts were fine when only the elite pitchers piled them up. It was cool to watch a stud pitcher punch out a clean-up hitter with two on and two out. But now starting pitchers with 0-10 records are throwing up K/9 rates of 10. It's ridiculous. |
