How do all these various companies not know if they'll be there at 8am or soon after? Like, are they completing a job they started at 4am and then heading over to my house? I can understand it if it happens for the last job of the day but I doubt the guy I'm waiting for that didn't know if he would get there at 8am or not but instead ended up showing up 3.75 hours later was put behind by his customer at 4am requiring more time to fix their problem. |

Abt gives you a two-hour window. I can live with that. |

I'm not sure which trade you're talking about but in my trade ilyiu never know what you'll be up against at any call. Therefore you can guess a repair might be around an hour or two but you never really know. |

Son, we live in a world that has heating and air conditioning units, and those heating and air conditioning units have to be serviced by men who know how to use tools. Who's gonna do it? You? A stay-at-home dad keyboard jock? Spiral Stairs? A divorce lawyer? Dr. Style? A school administrator? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep about the four hour window and you curse your service providers. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that the four hour window, while tragic, is necessary. What if it were your job that required extra time or a trip back to the shop for a part? Would you want me to just leave to make the next appointment at a specific time? You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me servicing that furnace- you need me to service that furnace. We use words like "chiller," "condenser," "coil." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent repairing something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very indoor weather conditions that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide them. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a multimeter and check for voltages. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think you're entitled to! |

Well unlike Eberflus I have to own my mistake, our last service call was a 2-3 hour window: Trane Maintenance Service - Your tech will text you before 9:30am on 11/19/2024 to provide a 2-3 hour time window. Maybe it depends on what is being done? |

Somebody (let's not kid ourselves, a lot of people) on this board has entirely too much time on their hands, but I've had a real shitty day and that was laugh out loud funny. Tip of the cap to the author. |
