Former Beatle Ringo Starr has given his fans a ticket to ride.

Former Beatle Ringo Starr says he has had enough of signing fan mail and memorabilia.

"I want to tell you please... do not send fan mail to any address that you have. Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October. If that is the date on the envelope, it's gonna be tossed.

"I'm warning you with peace and love I have too much to do. So no more fan mail, thank you, thank you, and no objects to be signed. Nothing," the 68-year-old said.

The drummer, wearing dark glasses, said it was "a serious message to everybody watching." Watch Ringo's rant ยป

Starr once starred in an episode of 'The Simpsons' which showed him answering every piece of fan mail.

"They took the time to write to me, and I don't care if it takes 20 years, I'm going to answer every one of them," Starr said on the show.

Starr, who earlier this year released a new album called Liverpool 8, divides his time between homes in Los Angeles, the South of France and Surrey.

He angered Liverpool residents during an interview on British television in January when he said he missed nothing about the city.

Hmmm. On one hand, I understand that many Beatles fans are completely crazy. A whole underground fan group writes fictional stories that place themselves in situations with the Beatles. Fans flock to Beatlefest every year in droves. All for a band that hasnt put out a CD in how many years? Nevermind a certain board members disdain that is well documented. And I think I would have agreed with him more if he used the real excuse, the stuff he signs is put up on EBay and other auction sites and makes ton of money that he never sees.

At the same time, he has been living off of Beatles fame in some way or another for years. Dont tell me he doesnt still make some profit off the sales of Beatles merchandise/memorabilia. You are too busy? Come on. Your shows really dont bring in that many people. And didnt you just do an HBO special that had discussions about the Beatles? If you really want peace and quiet, get out of the public light altogether.

I will leave this to you. To doucebag, or to not doucebag, that is the question.

He wasn't too busy to take the time to post that message on his website.

after listening to Liverpool 8, and realizing that albumn was made ONLY because Ringo was at one time a Beatle, and only the second best drummer in that band, I say DB. He rides the Beatles, then neglects the fans that keep him in royalties. What are you busy with?! Making bad albumns? C'mon. Imposter of a musician in a magically good band. Easily DB...

I would argue that he isn't a DB for the mere fact that I have no idea how much fanmail he actually receives. I am sure that it is an immense amount, and I would imagine that it gets pretty old. I am all for keeping in touch with your fanbase, however I wonder if some of these fans become a little too demanding and he is simply sick of it.

Douche. If he really is too busy, just stop signing the items (as opposed to answering letters). That will cut down on the amount of stuff he has to answer and the amount of stuff that ends up on ebay.

I can see a bit of where he's coming from; as fans can get fucking obnoxious with stuff. That being said; he could of had a more calmer way of responding to it.

I think anybody who is ticked off about not getting an autograph from fucking Ringo Starr is the DB.

At this point, is he accumulating any NEW fans? Most likely not. It's probably the same people who are constantly sending things to him: crazy, obsessed fans and/or professional autograph seekers/sellers.

Besides, if he actually has been signing and returning things for ll of these years, hasn't he "given back" enough to the fans? When would enough be enough?

No douchebag. I like that he actually says it, instead of just ignoring people. He's probably been bombarded with autograph requests for a good 45 years now. I sure as hell wouldn't want to spend my time dealing with all that. He's giving them a fair warning. Seems fine to me.

I heartily endorse this event and/or product.

Not a douchebag.

Douchebag.

Without the fans, he would be living in Aurora and commuting to work every day like the rest of us.

Now if he refused the royalties in addition to refusing to sign autographs, I'd gladly proclaim him a non-douchebag.

I'm Undecided - for now. I give him an A+ for Honesty, but an F for Execution. If he's so anti-Beatle he should stop doing Bealtes songs live except for the ones he wrote.(& how many is that?!) The guy had some great catchy singles in the early 70s WHEN THE OTHER BEATLES HELPED HIM. But since then? NOTHING in almost 35 years. Somebody else said only a DB would ask for a Ringo autograph - Yes! And let's not forget he's only in demand because 2 of the 4 Beatles are dead! Final Grade: C.

He's a DB for this sentence alone.

1. How do you "warn" someboby with "peace and love"? Is the cop warning a perp to get on the ground or he'll blow his fucking head off doing it with peace and love?

2. He has too much to do? Like what? Watch your son be 10 times the drummer you ever were?

I have zero tolerence for people who supposedly spend their lives trying to become famous, and then when they realize their dream, bitch and moan about it. Hey Richard, you coulda stayed in Liverpool and sold shoes for a living. Then no one would care about or bother you.

Somewhere Pete Best (if he isn't dead) is hurling ashtrays at his wall. He had the winning lotto ticket, and lost it.

I'm with you Ryno's wife, he's now a DB in my book. I would like to see how he would've ended up in Aurora though. That would make for an interesting story.

I suppose I should send him my Thomas the Tank Engine to get signed before it's too late. I already missed out on the best Conductor on Shining Time Station. R.I.P. George Carlin.

Pete Best recently played in Rogers Park at the Heartland Cafe. I heard it was a great early rock&roll & ska & skiffle show. I'd rather see Pete at Heartland Cafe than Ringo at Rosemont.

in my yout i was a huge beatles fan and ringo was my favorite. I went to his first all-star show in chicago years ago. I had the sgt. peppers doll of his and a few other things with just him on it. I then went to one of his shows about 10 years ago for free and thought that it was uck and really lackluster. His shows are not what they were years ago, as the last good album he put out was over 15 years ago.
I can respect his wish to have some privacy as he is human afterall, but if he wants that then he needs to step away from the camera, stage, and stop doing anything beatle related.

There are stars that are very private about themselves and their families, but then again they aren't trying to keep milking the cash cow for what they can then turning around bitching about needing space and doesn't have time for fans.

The Alan Parsons-led supergroups have put on much better Beatles tribute shows called A Wak Down Abbey Road. So far he's used:
Todd Rundgren, Jack Bruce, Ann Wilson, David Pack, Christopher Cross, Mark Farner, & the late John Entwistle.
