Way to dick this kid around. He doesn't have the grade requirements for Indiana? But is a qualifer free to sign anywhere else? This also so happens to solve that little scholarship problem you had left yourself. Ron Patterson out at Indiana By Eamonn Brennan | ESPN.com Indiana recruit Ron Patterson, one of five members of the program's highly touted 2012-13 recruiting class, will not attend the school this fall. The highly-touted recruit from Indianapolis will transfer after failing to meet the school's academic requirements. Coach Tom Crean issued a statement wishing Patterson well and promised to be "supportive" of whatever he chooses to do. Patterson will seek a spot at another four-year college or prep school, where he could enroll in a postgraduate year. The loss alleviates Indiana's scholarship crunch, which until Wednesday included nine returning scholarship players and five incoming recruits, one more than the NCAA maximum of 13. Patterson's departure brings Indiana to 13 total scholarships for the 2012-13 season. Patterson, an Indianapolis native, is the No. 25-ranked shooting guard in the class of 2012. As a senior at Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis, he averaged 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game. The Hoosiers' incoming class -- which also includes top-100 players Yogi Ferrell, Jeremy Hollowell and Hanner Mosquera-Parea -- ranks No. 11 in the country, according to ESPN Recruiting Nation. |

The situation is very questionable. Supposedly he qualified from the NCAA but he was granted a special requirements exemption to IU(like a lot of athletes get) and didn't do well enough to qualify. It just so happened they had to lose a scholarship at some point. |

This will all be forgotten as they are cutting the nets down in Atlanta. |

Next year will become even a bigger fan when the Fischer kid gets down there. Know him and his family very well. |

Quote: Patterson, an Indianapolis native, is the No. 25-ranked shooting guard in the class of 2012. Tough carrying bums on a stacked national championship roster. Now that VJIII is finally gone there is Oladipo, Abell and Creek (give him 3 quarters he's injured again) ready to carry IU to banner 6. |
