Why are people using hashtags in their posts? Does it make it easier to search topics? Kinda serious, kinda being a smart aleck, but I'm new to Twitter and I know hashtags are used there for that purpose. Here? I don't get it.

This is a guy known as one of the biggest control freaks and micro-managers in the history of the world.
