What you are doing now is not what you used to do. You need it for the fame, but your fact checkers are gone. Life is simply not as you say.

My wife used to work for the newspaper in Beloit and looks forward to the list every year as a way to look back fondly on our time in that area. Even she said the list has lost its fastball.

Is Beloit a graduate school or something?

They have kids born in 1980 entering college in 2002

The Class of 2002 would have been born in 1980.

It says entering college this year and the heading is 2002. Bad wording.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.
They never had a polio shot, and likely, do not know what it is.
Atari pre-dates them, as do vinyl albums.
The expression "you sound like a broken record" means nothing to them.
They have likely never played Pac Man, and have never heard of "Pong."
As far as they know, stamps have always cost about 32 cents.
They have always had an answering machine.
Most have never seen a TV set with only 13 channels, nor have they seen a black & white TV.
They have always had cable.
There have always been VCRs, but they have no idea what Beta is.
Roller-skating has always meant in-line for them.
"The Tonight Show" has always been with Jay Leno.
They never heard the terms "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel" or "De plane, de plane!"
They do not care who shot J.R. and have no idea who J.R. is.
The Titanic was found? I thought we always knew where it was.
Michael Jackson has always been white.
There has always been MTV, and it has always included non-musical shows.

Those are all wrong for a person born in 1980.

The AIDS one, the always had cable one, and MTV one really stuck out.

Most kids didnt know AIDS until 1990, Cable wasnt an "everybody has it" type of thing til the late 80's and MTV was all music all the time before the Real World debuted in the 90's

I guess if the kid blocked out the first 10 years of his life

I'm sure that both me and Spanky know of a few Rockford guys that were given football scholarships to Beloit College. I sat next to guy in English class who said Beloit offered him a scholarship, but I think he ended up at Augustana.

I don't even know if they give out scholarships. All I know is I wasn't going there (even though I heard it is a pretty good school with a nice campus).

This year's list was definitely for shit. I found three, and had to kinda hem and haw at that, that were of any real interest or meaning ...

Gas stations have never fixed flats, but most serve cappuccino.

Wayne Newton has never had a mustache. By cracky!

Off-shore oil drilling in the United States has always been prohibited.

Frankly the only one that gave me pause was the Wayne Newton one .... I can disprove the first one (I know three of them off the top of my head), and that last one is just patently dumb.

D3 Schools cannot give athletic scholarships, anyone who says they got an athletic scholarship to play at a D3 school is lying. Grant money sure, but nothing else. Had an ex that went there; said it was fine, but they give certain directions to new students so they did not drive through the not so nice side of Beloit...if there is such a thing....

Students with small peenuses, missing teeth, and a penchant for violently angry outbursts would be more than welcome. One of the courses teaches students how to choke out women and tiny humans.

Perhaps 6'7" former Utah Jazz small forwards would be welcome as well.

Absolutely there are some very unpleasant areas of Beloit. My wife was a cop and court reporter there and did a feature on gang life in Beloit. It's there in the poor areas. The nice areas are rather nice.
