Wouldnt they have been better off starting his season after the break? Have him skip a start or two. I've never seen a team concede a season on purpose while being a favorite to go to the Series. Fergie and Gibson would have told Rizzo to go fuck himself if he shut them down. If I'm Strasburg I demand a trade. To the White Sox for Gavin Floyd! Yes I would. This may end up biting them in the ass when its contract time. |

Rizzo keeps insisting he's done and won't pitch again this year. |

I guess. I really hope they don't make the playoffs now. But that's likely just a pipe dream at this point. |

If there was an issue with Rizzo's decision, Boras would have made it known months ago. No reason to killed the "fatted calf" so early in his career. Strasburg may not like it, but he signed up with Boras all by himself. |

When they saw they were making the playoffs he should of gone straight to the pen. |

Seems really silly to shut him down entirely. If you are playing baseball, your end goal is to win the World Series. So why shut down your best pitcher? I get that they want to limit his innings, but c'mon guys -- you are trying to win the WS. He can at least go three or four starts in the playoffs. At some point you have to take the training wheels off. For instance, I would be fine if they want to pitch Sale like a normal pitcher here on out. |

Hope you are right, this year the AL and NL are weak and ripe for the taking...I don't know if they will throw him in the post season...if they do, I rescind my nomination. |

Didn't the team say the media got in his head, and he wasn't the same pitcher? That's worse than anything they could have said. Why not just stick to the innings limit excuse? Don't make him sound like a mental midget. |

Im not sure (and really no one is) what the long term effects will be. Im just saying that taking 3 weeks off doesnt completely render a starting pitcher useless. You can build him back up or keep him loose pretty easily. Im thinking he'll do some bullpen work. |

I'm just going off of listening to him over the weekend, but I think he is done. He didn't sound happy at all, and I can't fathom his chances of re-signing there are good when his arbitrtration years are up. Of course, money changes all though. |

I highly doubt he starts in the playoffs. As much as this has been discussed, if he were to blow out his arm after starting, they would look even more foolish. Now, if it got late in a crucial game... I can easily see Davey Johnson making the call for him out of the pen. |

Apologist wrote: As much as this has been discussed, if he were to blow out his arm after starting, they would look even more foolish. Here's an idea. Lets not ever pitch him. He'll never get hurt. Problem solved. I wonder if is agent asked for this. You'd think he'd tell his agent what he wants. And you'd think he'd tell his agent to tell the GM to let him pitch. Fast forward to the game when the Nationals get eliminated. The close ups of Stras in the dugout in his sweats. The closeups of the Manager and the GM. THis is not going to end well unless they win it all. |
