Why does anyone care about this guy? Why is this on the front page of ESPN right now? When the idiot with all of the Bears autographs tattooed on his body "retires" (what the hell does that even mean?) will anyone care? Should they? How about the cool guy that wears a cape and a real bear head? WTF? |

How about the cool guy that wears a cape and a real bear head? WTF? I actually worked with the guy in the Bear head. Real squirrelly fella in real life. I think the fact that he quit watching them in disgust is the point. When your team's so-called #1 fan gives up on them, the writing has to be on the wall for the franchise. |

He's the second worst thing about NY until Rick moves back to the midwest |

I bet the real reason he is upset and quit is because he felt teams were running up the score on the Jets. |

spanky wrote: I have no idea who that is, nor does anyone else outside of his mama. Nor should they care if he is "retired". Exactly. Nobody should ever know or care about what some ran random fan at the game said about the team or if they are "retiring". The only time a fan's actions should be news: |

I just read the ESPN story noted in this thread. Frankly, Fireman Ed seems like a rational person. His reason for "retiring" made perfect sense. I hate the Jets as much as the next guy, but I cannot support a DB nomination for a guy who is quitting for a good reason. |

I don't think he's a DB for not wanting to show up anymore, but why does he feel so important that he has to write a letter, and why does his "quitting" need to be a news story? That's the DB-worthy part of it. |

The guy gets a lot of press, and people would assume he quit because the Jets suck. It seems like he wanted to highlight that he still loves the team and will attend games, but that the confrontations with fans are out of control. I just don't have an issue with the way he handled the whole thing. |

That's what I mean. He's still gonna go to all of the games but he just won't be wearing his fireman's hat? Is that what all of this is about? Wow. I can see how that would be so heartbreaking for him. A monumental life-changing moment, much like retiring from a job. |

I get your point. But there is no way for the guy to disappear quietly, so he got out ahead of the train. I am ok with that. |
