A $250,000 fine for the Spurs.

Dumbass.

you can't make it so fucking obvious. rest a guy here and there. give a "reasonable" effort to win the game. pop pulled out his dick and said hey Stern suck this bitch!

The NBA is a fucking joke. like 6 teams ever even have a chance. there's no competition.

The team he put out on the floor was leading with less than a minute to go. That's a pretty reasonable effort.

Right, its not like they got throttled by 40 points.

There's no way this fine stands.

In his statement, he talks about the fact that the Spurs didn't notify the league office of the decision.

What a joke.

There is no chance the fine stands.

Did Stern suddenly become possessed by Gary Bettman?

IS Stern on new meds? Maybe he needs new meds.

Was coming here to start this thread. Senile power-hungry hypocrite. If you're really so concerned about this David, cut the number of regular season games.

The fine is ridiculous. But what does everyone mean "no way the fine stands"? Is there an appeal process for something like this?

I would think they could appeal something like this in a court or something. It's definitely ridiculous.

Post subject:  Re: David Stern

They have to be able to appeal it. There's no way the league office can dictate who does and doesn't play.

But I'm basketball retarded so maybe they can.

I have always felt that the NBA is very close to the WWE. I am not a conspiry guy but there are clues. The lottery mysteries and the weird fines like this. Of course, the games are real and all but there is a master puppeteer behind the scenes.

I still think its bullshit. Play to win the fucking game. That's why I hate the NBA.

Stern should be embarrassed. This is a dogdamn joke. Who is the league to tell teams who to play and when? Coach should have full and total control of who plays and why. This whole thing stinks like Keeping Scores diapers.

As opposed to the 4 NFL teams that have a chance every year and the 5 MLB teams.

You just called Hatchetman a racist. What kind of challenge is this?

That was just me being a smartass. I don't really think he's a racist.

Serious question:

Is there a higher % of balcks in the NBA compared to the NFL?

Hatchet, how do you feel about baseball?

Author:  Hatchetman [ Fri Nov 30, 2012 8:13 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: David Stern

Yeah, I think it's bullshit when it happens in the NFL too, it's just not as rampant. I'm not a big NFL fan by any stretch. I'm really not a fan of anything really. At least with NASCAR if you're not trying you might die.

Peeps - I think baseball is the best of the bunch. Baseball is such a crap shoot, try your best to win and you have a 51% chance, if you rest all your guys you have a 49% chance of winning.

Yeah there's an appeal process. I think Adam Silver or Stu Jackson hears the appeal, and like DB said they might even be able to take it to court.

I think Stu Jackson is just part of on-court incidents, isn't he?
And Adam Silver is the deputy to.......?

I think court may be San Antonio's only option. If that's possible, but even that seems strange to me. You'd think Cuban would have taken Stern to court one of these times if that were the case.

Post subject:  Re: David Stern

I shill think Silver could hear it and rule in favor of SA, but SA would have a better case in court I believe than the Mavs would have. Letting a commissioner control personnel decisions for a team is a pretty bad precedent.

I think there's a separate question though.

Should the players have at least been in the building, in suits, maybe signing some autographs, taking pictures, cheering on their teammates etc.....?

What would the fine have been then? $225K?

Either way, it is not the place of the league to get involved in team business like this. The teams should have the right to do what is in their best interest. The league has more important stuff to worry about.
