On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, my son had surgery to have a cyst removed from the back of his head. It was not attached to the bone so they were not concerned. When they performed the surgery, they found out it was not a cyst but a mass and they needed to biopsy it to figure out what it was. On Friday of last week, they told us the results were inconclusive, they had to send it to Harvard Medical for a second opinion. Results came back today. fuck you cancer. I'm posting here because I need to vent and my wife doesn't want it on facebook yet because she isn't handling it well. In reality, she is handling it better than I am. |

Thanks, I'm furious at my insurance company b/c they held off on letting us do the surgery for 3 months while they decided if it was "medically necessary." During that time the mass got bigger, but because they thought it was a cyst they could not biopsy it. We have an appointment on Monday at 9:30 and will know the plan at that time. |

I dont know what to say other than prayers for a fast recovery. Just stay positive, everything will turn out alright. You will find that kids are amazingly strong, even with the toughest challenges. I don't know if he still posts here, but I know Darren from TP was going through a lot with his kid. I'm sure he might be one of the best for an ear when it comes to this board. Can't figure out why this shit happens to truly good people. |

Wonder what those cock suckers will do if you decide to withhold your premiums while you decide if theyre fiscally necessary. Rotten fuckers. |

The best of luck to your son & your family, Cory. BRogue pretty much summed up my thoughts on the insurance company. |

Another thing, everyone thought it was a cyst. We actually had four opinions on it: His regular physician, the Doctor at the Children's hospital, a neurologist, and a friend of ours' father who is a doctor. It is just a complete kick to the stomach. I guess that's an understatement. |

Vent away Cory. Cancer can suck the father of all dicks. That is a giant pile of suck. I had a scare with that 2 years ago. It ended up being nothing, but I was scared for a few weeks. I'll keep you guys in my prayers. |

Best wishes for you and your kid my PA bro. What kind of cancer is it that was sort of an unattached thing that could be mistaken for a cyst? |

It is soft tissue sarcoma. They think they got it all in the first surgery, but they may do a second and chemo is on the table. We will know more on Monday. |
