I was going to attach this to my other thread, but I think this gets its own DOTW: My wife, my son and I are in the elevator after his pediatric oncology appointment and a woman gets on the next floor down. This is the conversation that occurred: Woman: Oh he's cute, where you at the allergy clinic? My wife: no (pause) Woman: Ear, Nose and Throat? My wife: no (pause) Woman: oh was he.. Me: We were at Pediatric Oncology The door to the elevator opens and we leave. Who the fuck asks why you are at the children's hospital with a kid? When, if ever, is this a good idea? I'm sure she meant well, but think before you speak. /end rant |

Yeah, I know she was just being nice but still she should have been a little more situationally aware. That's part of the reason why I didn't call her any names, though I understand why others would...it was douchebag worthy but she was trying to be nice. Can't fault her for that, just sort of pick up on the cues of the situation. |

How many times have you sat there in a hospital waiting room, and looked around thinking "I wonder what he/she has?" I'm sure everyone has done it. You don't actually do it, because it's rude and none of your business. Same thing with inquiries in a HOSPITAL elevator. Small talk is fine, but small questioning is stupid. |
