I know you're trolling but I dont think you can blame the Cubs for getting close on deals

I hope they continue to try and make moves.

The problem is the leak or false reporting

It's really sort of fascinating to see this move happen in such a public eye. Like I mentioned, I'm sure it's a common negotiating tactic, but there were multiple people citing sources that a deal was done yesterday with the Cubs.

I agree. Participation is what really matters.

It's not Twitter, it's the reporters. Nightengale wrote the article for USA Today too.

Exactly. Nightengale jumped the gun on this story. Did not have confirmation and got played.

That doesnt even make sense. You gotta think through your trolls.

This is about believing the false report. Not whether the deal got done or not.

If you think they missed out big time on paying Anibel 16m for five years, then start your own thread about that.

Theo clearly went after him and failed. Any manager in this town would be mocked for it.

It's not whether it was a good idea or not. It's that Theo couldn't close the deal, and that the excuse of "They want to lose" is pretty much gone.

BRick's right. It's embarrasing. And Cutler sucks. I have seen the light.

It's not embarrassing. It is just something that happens. If Emery were used as a way to leverage another team he'd be mocked too.

But that's a result of the relaxing of standards in order for traditional news organizations to keep up with citizen journalists who answer to no one. When I say "newspaper" I'm not necessarily talking about words printed on huge sheets of newsprint. I'm talking about the organization that had sets of codes and standards rather than just reporting rumor and innuendo from unspecified "guys".

The fact that 3 leaks that have gotten out of Cubs camp that didn't end up happening is embarrasing. Theo deserves to be mocked.

Fair enough I am not going to Woodward and Bernstine the situation. It is an annoying trend. I just want the Cubs to suck less to make my summers more enjoyable.

Agreed. Its just not what this thread is about.

Its about believing unconfirmed reports.

Ill be starting a thread ripping Theo and Jed. See ya in there.

I think you rip Theo more than I rip Kenny.
