He 'blocked' me on Twitter a little while back, because I was arguing with some of the things he was saying. I certainly wasn't being offensive, racist or anything over the top like that, but I was direct in my disagreements. So he blocked me. Don't get me wrong, he has the right. Not arguing that one bit. But it's stupid. Let me preface this by saying, blocking a single person isn't going to do a lot of damage (I get that), but based on what it took for him to block me, I assume he blocks a lot of people. So this is ultimately going to hurt him. I now won't see any of his tweets, which means I won't give him any page views on the articles he writes. If I really liked him and wanted to hear his radio bits, I wouldn't hear those plugs either. It means I'll basically forget about him in general. And don't forget, he's tweeting from a so-called "Company" twitter account (ESPN). So if this was his personal account, I could side with him even more, but it's not.. So he's hurting himself/his brand (Elmhurst Steve agrees), and ESPN (again we can argue how much exactly, but it does matter). Not to say I'm missing anything. The Chicago beat reporters hardly break any real Bears news, and if they do, it's immediately tweeted by all 100 of them. So I guess I don't really care. But I do think it's stupid to block people on Twitter. Just ignore it. Sure, if I was racist or aggressive or whatever... by all means. But for thinking you made a stupid comment? Don't be so soft. Signed, Spurned (former) Twitter Follower of MCW P.S. I know I shouldn't even care, but I think beat writers are stupid for blocking people. |

Social Media and Talk Radio made beat writers inflated jock sniffers! Maybe KC Johnson can not tell us about more stuff? |

Using me in this manner is not likely to get you any additional credibility around here......Take it as a compliment that he blocked you. he must have thought that your arguments had some substance and were making him look bad. |

Thanks Steve, it was a lighthearted joke. We can debate the validity of your brand, but his brand should actually matter to him as it has a direct effect on how he does his job. |
