The CTA infrastructure needs expansion and renovation/repair. I'm sure that this money will be all destined for those purposes and not funneled off into some hazy general slush fund. |

The CTA could be DB-worthy on several fronts, but they're keeping regular fares where they're at now. They're raising the price of ALL passes in an effort to balance their budget. They also take their own sweet time in regards to schedule, too. |

So at $10 for a one-day pass, you'd have to ride five times to justify getting $1.25 off the fifth ride. Solution: just don't buy a one-day pass. I try to keep at least $5 on a farecard for when I'm in the city. Boilermaker Rick wrote: This is why I'm a firm believer in not taking public transportation. That doesn't make any sense. |

The $10 is the most ridiculous price hike they made. Just gouging tourists, who'll now consider Milwaukee & St. Louis for their Midwest vacations. Really, I wouldn't be so against the price hikes if it wasn't for the absolutely shitty service. A month or so ago I was stuck on the train for over an hour because of a failed switch. Mind you, this was on a train line that was just repaired a month or so before. |

CTA/Metra aren't shining examples of public transportation when compared globally but I think Chicagoans take for granted what we have. |

No one's going to St. Louis instead of Chicago because tourist passes for the L went up. You can't even get the day passes unless you go to Walgreen's or Union Station, anyway. Just put money on a regular farecard. It sucks a lot, but it's not the end of the world. The hotel taxes that were raised to build Comiskey Park do more harm to Chicago tourism than this will. |

Dude, I was just fucking around w/ that. Nobody's going to St. Louis period. |

My sister and her boyfriend went to St. Louis this weekend! He had always wanted to go (?), and I guess it was 70 there on Friday. I warned them that it was just Milwaukee without the charm, and that St. Louis City is basically a festering hole, but they went anyway. He then proceeded to get lost in a bad neighborhood and said "maybe your brother was right." |

Well, and that in this country it's almost universally terrible to get you anywhere but within city limits. This subject caused a huge argument between my girlfriend and me. She said that she loved public transportation and I replied, "No, you don't. You hate it." She told me how wrong I was so I asked her why she doesn't take it. Her answer was, "Because it isn't convenient to my job." So I said, "Now you're just explaining why you hate it." That really sent her into orbit. |

Unless you have been to Switzerland in my opinion there is no need to even call the crap in the US transportation. |

They'll do like the Mag Mile-Science & Industry shuttle bus or the Blue Line from O'Hare, but that's about it. |

I was trying to say that the transport system in Switzerland is beyond awesome as it is in other European countries. If you were ever there and tried it you would call all this US crap shit. This is especially true with Amtrak. |
