I understand if it's in written form, saying it in casual conversation is unnecessary.

Must have been about 10 years ago this term became popular, for the life of me I couldn't figure out what the hell it was.

I've only seen it in written form. It would be pretty annoying if someone said it in person. It's like saying lol.

I cannot come up with even the slightest idea why someone would say POTUS instead of President. This is a great nomination.

Yes. On those old Bulls teams, Dennis Rodman wasn't calling Pippen "Biggins" because of how tall he looked guarding the post.

That was when Jack Ryan became President.

That's when I first became aware of the term; in Tom Clancy novels.

See the first episode of West Wing; I believe it was used then. And probably became more popular afterward.

Still exists...great channel...

...oh, and nomination denied. POTUS is great. And shorter than President.

I'm not sure why people use POTUS, but it doesn't bother me in general.

Similar to this, I'm more bothered by the nicknames. They are unimaginative and make people look uneducated. OBummer, Jug Eared Wacko, King Obongo, Obumbles, Owebama, etc.
