For making advertisers say, "The Big Game."

I understand the NFL wanting to protect the biggest property in all of sports, but I don't understand why companies use "The Big Game" in their promotions. Why not use something simple like NFL Championship Game, or Football Championship Game? The Big Game is a novel by Colin O'Brien.

You can't use NFL in your advertising because it's trademarked.

If they don't do that they'll eventually lose their trademark.

They have to protect against unauthorized use. Authorized advertisers can say Super Bowl.
