Was told the controversy has already been discovered and you can find it on the interweb, but basically, I am watching Pawn Stars, guy comes in with a Belt Buckle, that says CS (confederate States) with a bullet in it. Claims it saved a guys life. Rick calls in the expert museum guy who tells them it is a fake and sold to people thinking they got some civil war piece! Less than a week late, Mike Wolf finds the basic same belt buckle (Says US) with bullett in it...and is going crazy for this. Says it is his best find of the month. Then they do that PICKED $$ and SOLD $$$ thing....He buys it for $50 and claims he already SOLD it for $200! Hey Mr Fake "I Sold My TV show to HC and never really made any money picking", ripping people off now? or just making that up to? Real v REALITY |

The History Channel is just truly pathetic these days. It started with that Ice Road Truckers shit, and once that became relatively-popular enough to justify the low overhead costs fundamentally inherent to reality, it started us down a path where we got AX MEN, SWAMP PEOPLE, and ultimately PAWN STARS. Seriously, only in America during a "recession" can we take these predatory lowlifes and glamorize a pawn shop as some sort of beacon of American culture. The History Channel tries to maintain that pawn shops end up with OMFG PIECES OF HISTORY!!!!! which was then extended to American Pickers, which has cemented the complete downfall of the so-called "History" Channel. When the History Channel first showed up in my basic cable package, it displaced/replaced the SciFi channel (which has since turned into SyFy aka siffy, but that's another story) and at the time I was bummed to find out that my sporadic pointless meandering weekdays chock full of old SciFi show (like Sliders) marathons were gone, but it turned out that the History Channel was a lateral move because I could find myself enjoying the random splatterings of infotainment about historical shit. I used to love the goofy Nazi days that would eventually deteroriate into Hitler and the Occult and Crazy Nazi Weapons of WW2. I found that shit invigorating to the point where I'd proudly refer to myself as a History Channel junkie. Now? Ever since Ice Road Truckers showed up and gave History a more profitable and "hip" way to "program" their channel, they've stopped investing $$$ into making proper HISTORY programs (save the occasional 2hr thing that's all fluff and filler and OMFG GRAFX crap) and making more and more and more of these stupid "reality" shows, let alone all their ANCIENT ALIENS AND UFOS OF THE MONSTERQUEST!!!! stuff. By the time my basic cable expanded to have channels up into the 100s and I got SyFy back along with the allotment of other basic cable stuff, H2 was already crumbling as an outpost for "traditional" History Channel stuff, and now the channel is chock full of their new/er crap all about ancient aliens and their UFOs, and of course tomorrow we'll get a bunch of shit like MEGA MOVERS over there, of course surrounded by DECODED WITH BRAD METZLER, a show that "investigates" all of these "conspiracies" that's "hosted" by some pretentious author fuck who only records little vignettes in a studio somewhere meanwhile his crack team of experts outs to go and "find" answers that are as discoverable as bigfoot. Long story short (the antithesis of me) it's just a swirling cavalcade of shit over there, and seeing as History would rather shoot their wad on making "drama" like the Bible and the Vikings now, well, the "reality" effect is complete. Hell, you can even turn on AMC a few nights a week and be graced by timeless greatness such as "Comic Book Men" because, shit, who doesn't want to see what these wacky guys and their mascot Kevin Smith are up to? Everyone go get a few SMODCASTS and go fuck yourselves, btw. |

Mike & Frank aren't Burrito. The History Channel has never been more popular & IIRC, Pawn Stars & American Pickers are the 2 most popular shows on what used to be called cable TV...or at least in the top 5. These shows are very entertaining & educational as well, & are better than most of the crap on TV. Mrs. Scorehead & I are big fans of both shows. |

They aren't GAY, but you would think guys who claim they sell this much stuff, especially from an original store in the middle of nowhere have an online store? Seems that they dont. What they do sell is hats, tshirts, etc. I think he just liked buying old motorcycles, which made him a 'Picker" and he brought Frank along because he had nothing better to do. ![]() |

Real v REALITY Are yo saying he didn't sell a different belt buckle than the one form Pawn Stars? And how do you know if he makes money or not? 1. It's a different Belt Buckle, but someone is making them to sell to tourists and other suckers claiming it saved someones life. You can buy 20-40 civil war bullets at auction for $20, mount them in shitty belt buckles, tarnish them and claim they are civil war items. The guys on Pawn Stars showed how it is done. 2. Every Pick they make they show what they paid, what they value it at for a potential profit, or sometimes, they claim they SOLD it and they show what they sold it for...in this case, they showed they sold it for $200! with the claim it was a civil war piece that saved someones life. When it was a fake, semi mass produced item. Do a google image of CIVIL WAR BELT BUCKLE and it is amazing how many guys got saved buy their belt buckles during the civil war. ![]() |

I love how family members are "off limits" on the board but people regularly use them as props on their quests for unequivocal internet righteousness. That said, I'll give you a 6/10 for the classy subtlety of what you said, because the average schmoe will read it and think that it's completely unrelated to my post, however, I'm nearly certain that you don't believe any of this shit and you're just trying to use your beloved status as a wholly average person to look better than me. To use another tired argument cliche, you know, Hitler was pretty damn popular in his day too. |

Give them credit for making millions off the notion they are just two ordinary guys trying to make it as Pickers. I will assume the stores are nothing more than props now and if you want to buy something, you can for a ridiculous $$$ tag, as the big concern is that they now have to find something to replace it. I just dont watch the show that much knowing that they arent really going for a profit. Kind of like Property wars. |

here is another example of what fakes these guys are... They just had an episode of buying the Won dutch VW motor cycle. The backstory is they found one guy who sen them to another guy who sent them down the road to this guys Yard sale, where they found this amazing bike. But according to the National Motorcycle museum, Mike wolf has know the guy who he bought it from for 20 years! yet, on camera it was "a pleasure meeting you" and no doubt he knew he had this bike! http://www.nationalmcmuseum.org/american-pickers-vondutch-xavw-hits-museum/ They do a great job of making it look like they just stumble upon this stuff, but COME ON!! |
