That's stupid. The NCAA did the same thing a year ago when they started doing the First Four a year ago in Dayton, OH, the same venue where the just as stupid "Play In" game occurred.

Who signed off on that name change being a good idea? The play in games alone are worthless, imo. If you aren't good enough to be one of the 64 teams invited, then go to the NIT.

They have two 11 and 13 seeds in the play-in games instead of all 16s, and 11 seeds have made the Final Four before.

As long as they keep D1-A and D1-AA for football, I won't begrudge them this.
