I rarely drive to work since I take Metra almost everyday. Because of that, my sports radio listening has plummeted the last 5 years. This morning I chose to drive because I'm going to the Bulls game later tonight, and both The Score & ESPN 1000 decided to spend a huge chunk of my commute talking about the NFL combine. Does anyone really care about this shit? I don't give a damn if someone runs the fastest 40 yard dash, or has the longest wing span. This shit means almost nothing when they finally take the field. M & H talked Bears combine talk for nearly 45 minutes.  Keep it.

Solid nomination. February baseball talk is about the only thing that's as bad comparatively.

I don't care much for the overanalysis but I'd be lying if I didn't pay attention and even watch some of it
on television. You are right that rarely do the best athletes or strongest guys make a big impact on the next
level but it just reminds me of Field Days in junior high or something to see the drills. Some of the guys are
pretty impressive speed and strength wise. What I really would like it a secret camera over their shoulder
when they do the Wonderlic test though to see some of the answers they come up with.

February baseball talk is awesome and should be expected. The season is starting.

Same with training camp in other sports.

Yeah, that wasn't a shot at baseball. July NFL talk is awful. September basketball talk never happens but would be terrible to listen to. A month before whenever the NHL starts talk would be bad too. There's nothing interesting to talk about yet.

Disagree. I enjoy the off season stuff in most sports.

I like off-season talk. But an entire segment discussion about who ran the fastest 40, or who has the longest wing span is some of the worst radio imaginable. I'd rather hear Mac talk about which current Hawk's player has the longest dong.

I am more for following the hot stove type stuff in football and even the draft but no really the combine.

I have no problem with them talking about free agency or the draft in any of the four sports. I have a problem with pre-preseason talk. It's absolutely PTFB time whenever I hear that.

The combine is awesome for a few reasons.

-it allows good players to drop to smart teams when other teams draft guys for their 40 times, ability to jump out of a pool and other combine feats of greatness.
-it gives you good injury insight
-it allows you to get a feel for their mental aptitude and personality

So basically all the stuff you see on tv and all the stuff that is talked about is completely worthless but the stuff you don't see is great.

Chris Johnson was a Combine Star, 4.24 2008, brought a ton of attention to the guy. Normally would care less about shuttle run, but remember watching him there and he was the 2008 best as well.

Fastest guy ever to run 40, best shuttle run....not saying it makes him a good football player, but time to take a c much closer look.

BUMP.

This morning I heard 1 hour straight of Brian Urlacher leaving the Bears talk. I get it, he was the face of the franchise for over a decade, now he's gone. This should be 1-2 segments tops.

The guy didn't win a super bowl here, or create any kind of dynasty. An hour straight of the same topic is a little overboard. Mix it up a little. Each hour should have a bit of everything. Mix in some spring training talk, Bulls, and Hawks. If you want to go back and talk more NFL football later in the show, then fine. But an hour straight is just overkill.

I don't get this one.

He's a hall of fame lock and the most important Bear since Walter Payton. That's more important than a meaningless Bulls season.

I'm not saying I want an hour straight of Bulls talk either. Just give the listener some variety. Spray to all fields.
