For as much as I love their beer, these guys are being major douchenozzles lately. Between their rude treatment of customers at the Brew Pub and all their snobbery and now with the kind of dickish attitude for Darklord Day, myself and many friends are getting really turned off by them. This is not a boycott threat by any means, but I wish they'd be a little more customer friendly. I'm not asking them to kiss ass or anything, but quit it with the "mightier than though/our beer is the only beer worthy of drinking" attitude. There are plenty of breweries popping up all over, so don't think that people won't eventually get turned off by your douchebaggery and complete lack of customer service and ridiculous prices for some of the beers. On that note, I was happy to get a ticket to Darklord Day, but really bummed that they limited it to one ticket per person......really? I mean...really? You don't take into consideration that many people are there to get a ticket for their spouse or really good friend who had to be at work? I'm sure it's because they're pissed that some greedy bitches buy a ticket just to sell on e-bay, but c'mon! You guys are making money hand over fist. This might be the last time I purchase a ticket to the event as well....not really worth it when I look at all factors. |

I can see how they're trending towards that territory. Did not know the one ticket per person policy for DLD. I love most of their products, but they've really priced me out. I see their bombers for $12.99, then you have bombers like this for $5 right beneath them. Damn good beer. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/63/47434 |

Last year they did the local sales at two per person, but this year, as we get in line, dude comes out and announces one per person. I'm sure they saw all the bastages that sell them online...and of course the fact that people will shell out just about anything has lead to this. They made it a limit of one, and then wrote your name on the ticket. I get it, looking out for locals who want to go, but now it's just gotten ridiculous. This might be the last year that I go....unless things change a bit...or unless I just have a flat-out really kick ass time this year. |

For as long as there are ironic mustaches, Chicago flag tattoos and heavy metal music there will always be people willing to gobble the knob that is 3 Floyds, they've replaced the bougie pretension of the wine community with their own little northwest Indiana fiefdom. |

I've thought these guys were douches for years.....and always overpriced. The beer is good but there are a ton of places that make really good beer, are cool and don't gouge the fuck out of the prices. |

I have to agree with you Jeffro. They are selling beer for Christ Sakes. It's damn good beer but man their fucking attitudes there suck balls. |

Crown Brewery for one makes decent stuff, as far as NWI. Their Special Forces DIPA is outstanding! I'm going to wear a Crown Brewery shirt to DLD just to see if any of them make me take it off or inside out. I guess they have a major feud going. As far as other micro brews....love me some Great Divide. Yeti Imperial Stout and their Hercules DIPA make me smile. |

Yeah, I thought about boycotting them....but then I feel like they've won. I might change my mind after this year's DLD. I need to change my avatar soon....but shit, I still love Arctic Panzerwolf. This is how I feel as an Eagles fan who has a D'Bag QB. |

They are soon going to find that out once Lagunitas starts actually brewing here. |

What I'm sick of is the refusing to accept blame. This year, it was brownpaperbag's fault that they ran some test programs over the weekend, years prior it has been "Hey, we just brew beer, we don't put on events." The problem is that once you actually get there, it is a reasonably good time. It's just they make it such a pain in the ass to get to that point that you start to wonder if it is even worth it. KBS is this week and they took some solid steps forward -- they are ticketing it now, and it is being released over a series of four days. Headed up on Wednesday to undoubtedly run into some sort of stupid issue, but way better than the campout in line overnight in the literally 12 degree temperature or you are shut out. You got to show up at 4 am to be the last in line that gets the beer? Ridiculous. Also have my DLD ticket, and they are trying now to split this up into 6 groups (but only 4 were sold online -- were 2 kept for locals? not sure....) Last year they had the line roped off for about 300 people even though there are 3000 people in the line, so there are some verbal altercations as all these various lines start to merge together. If these places really cared about the experience, they would pony up the money to an event coordinator and have them run things instead of trying to plan it all out themselves. It never works right, there are always issues, but people are drunk and then get past that, so I guess I don't anticipate change anytime soon. |

rogers park bryan wrote: What is Darklord day? What is 3 floyds? Why should I care? Three Floyd's is a popular brewery in Munster IN. They make GumballHead and Zombie Dust beers - very popular amongst us beer nerds. They started small and made some really unique beers right when the craft brew scene started taking off. They grew quickly and are always running into supply issues (can't even find those two beers mentioned in my area). Darklord is their Russian Imperial Stout beer and it is only released one day of the year on Darklord Day. Because it has grown in popularity they had to start limiting how many people could come and how many bottles people could buy. People are willingly showing up to be price gouged. But they have created a brand people are willing to pay money for. ALOT of money. If you don't like that style of beer, you shouldn't care. |

Pretty fair description there by Jackref. Their beer is good to very good. Thankfully though this isn't 1920's prohibition America. Plenty of other great small craft breweries that'll get my dollars before 3 Floyds gets another cent. |

You are welcome. I get very frustrated with them because they do make great beer. But even their "regular" beers are overpriced now. Its hard to justify spending that extra $2 or $3 a sixer when you can get something just as good (if not better) for less. This goes double for their 22oz beers. Their bombers usually retail from $11-$14 for their IPAs and right next to it you can get 2 or 3 varieties from Lagunitas IPAs for $5-$7. Plus the two times I have been to their brewpub to get beer I was treated like garbage. I was appalled the first time but chalked it up to the individual and not the place. Second time it happened made me realize it is definitely the culture there. I won't go back, but I will still drink their beer on occasion. I don't go out of my way for it though. |

Fuck that. dolphin don't wait in lines beer, pizza, donuts, hamburgers, etc. I am comfortable with missing the "experience". I was an early consumer of Three Floyd's because of my NWI connections. They have pretty much considered themselves tortured artists from the beginning. |
