here's an example of what i mean: "Tough games today but you girls did a great job. You had some nice catches at center field. Way to use your speed. Nice double to left field and way to go on your pitching. I'm proud of you and love watching you play." this was sent from a mom to her daughter's fb page for everyone to see. the sentiment is fine, but why not send it via email? right, because then nobody would know your daughter played stellar d, pitched great, ran fast, and hit a double. |

Why does it bother you? FB or an email doesn't change anything. Sure FB and other places are where people go to lie or to pretend to be something they're not. I have friends and family who are deadbeats but if you read their FB posts you would give them Father and Mother of the Year awards. Just laugh at it and move on. |

I hate saying that but I think it's true. I'm not one to post a lot about my personal life or my kids but I understand the feeling some parents get about their children accomplishments. the point is that facebook is a public forum. it's a literal "brag about something no one cares about". you are broadcasting anything you do or say, so you should be aware that it is being viewed by the public. it allows private life to be tabloided, all very self serving. and for those who are following my facebook statuses, i'm up to #5 for my list of my top 10 favorite siskel & ebert episodes. enjoy! |
