All the build up to his big big big Saturday night finale of his world tour on HBO and it was just OK at best. If it was just OK, I might not have DB'ed him, but HBO had to of paid him big money as they had his shows on all day and replayed this EVENT all night, the very least he could have done is maybe came up with a new joke! -Driving swearing at people. HEARD IT FROM HIM -He is fat HEARD IT FROM HIM -He is divorced HEARD IT FROM HIM -Getting Older HEARD IT FROM HIM It wasnt a terrible show, but at least 50% of the material was the same shit he has been doing for the last 5 years! Couldnt have worked on something new???? And although this isn't about being funny, original etc but couldn't you find a shirt better than the one size too small collared royal blue short sleeve from Target? How about even a black t shirt? Basically he put on a show worthy of a guy at Zanies warming up for the main act! |

Louis CK sucks. Always has. Not funny. Just another talentless fuck pretending he's George Carlin. Same problem with Lewis Black. |

I've resigned myself to the notion that comedy, like music, is one of those topics on here that will solicit 20 different opinions from 20 different posters. For every guy you like, someone else thinks he sucks. Just the way it is. |

Louis CK isn't funny. That's a problem for a comedian. |

I honestly had never heard of him. Though I don't watch comedy specials or pay attention to it. So I guess that is not a surprise. |

I would agree, he has been great the last 10 years, but he might have just jumped the shark with the same damn jokes, just written in a new way, but the same topic, same observations. I understand this is what I get it I saw him LIVE in Chicago or Milwaukee, then see this special, but this was pretty lame for a guy that has been really funny and edgy. |

And Louis CK's act is not remotely similar to George Carlin's. some of it is but at his root he's still an observational humorist where carlin was an outright critic of society and was a master of social satire. louis ck has some absolutely brilliant stuff. and his show on FX is pretty funny. |

Checked out the first half the special before I had to go do whatever it is I do. The food chain bit and the bit about sitting down were excellent and had me laughing my ass off. Look forward to the rest. |

Hannibal Buress is very good, reminds me of Mitch Hedberg. Dave Attell, back when he drank and partied. Saw Louis CK at the Chicago Theater in 2010. It was apparently the largest crowd he had headlined for up to that point and he admitted after to being nervous and falling back on established material to please the large crowd. Guessing with the wide exposure of the HBO special and the likelihood it will be the first many see of his material, he probably felt like he should present a Louis CK greatest hits rather than do a club set. Wasn't Louis CK Chris Rock's main writer back in the 90's? Wonder how much of Rock's stand-up sets from back then CK wrote. I've seen Charlie Murphy twice. First time a few years ago I swear Eddie must've helped with his set, cause the jokes came fast and were great but Charlie Murphy's execution fell flat most of the time and he cracked up at the jokes himself too often. Saw Charlie Murphy again last Fall and the material was more conversational and probably more Charlie's style than his brother's. Too bad the Oscars had to be burritos and piss off Eddie. Was hoping that would lead to Eddie going back out on a stand up tour. |

As far as contemporary guys who don't get talked up much, I've really liked John Mulaney's two albums and enjoyed them more than Louis' stuff over the same time period. |

Huh, Mulaney wrote the Stefon character for Bill Hader on SNL, which apparently Hader often hadn't seen the bits prior to airtime and so would crack up at them himself while reading em. Have to check out Mulaney's stand up. Brian Regan is a guy who folks in the local stand up community recommend, but I've never managed to make it very far into one of his sets. He reminds me of Jim Gaffigan, who I don't really care for. Brian Regan did a cars and coffee thing with Seinfeld at some point. Louis CK was Seinfeld's go to opener for a while. Doug Stanhope and Bill Burr are a couple more decent stand ups from the last decade. Burr has an infamous you tube clip where he basically roasts Philadelphia in Philly. The audience booed a younger comedian off the stage and Burr went on after, pissed off, to give the crowd back some of their own piss and vinegar. Eventually Burr's anger wins over the crowd and it goes from hostile to happy, with Burr repeatedly mentioning that he will be selling tshirts and cd's in the lobby after the show. |

Jim Norton and Bill Burr are currently my favorites I think Louis CK is decent but probably a little overrated. Dane Cook is as good as Louie |

Honestly, I haven't seen a comedian that has emerged in the last 10 years that I thought was good. Stand up to me has been atrocious since the turn of the century. Dave Attell amused me...but not much else. And Kid, don't start that "scoreheading" crap with me. My statements were based on my opinion alone, and I'm not trying to represent anything other than my thoughts, so take that bullshit somewhere else. |

They play the same roms I don't know who liked Dane Cook back then but it was a lot of fucking people. He sold out the garden twice in one night no other stand up has come close to that since Dice Clay in the 80's. I think Dane is very good. Not his fault he got so over exposed and became so punchable He and Louis are both Good to me If Carlin and Pryor are 10s, they are both 7s |

I thought his hosting gig on SNL was the worst episode this side of a Melissa McCarthy appearance in close to 10 years. Listening to him drone on puts me to sleep. |
