NBC NEWS is the only one that didn't jump on the bandwagon and stuck to their guns.

Are you saying they clinged to their guns? Typical right wingers...

In all seriousness, good for them. In our 24 hour news world of today, everyone just wants to break the news first. Accuracy be damned...

NEWS IN GENERAL

If you dont know it, you can't tweet it, say it or report it, if you are a "News Network"

That includes sports radio stations and the guys who work there!

CNBC reporting shit today on their official twitter feed, then saying it is AP that is reporting, then it is Ap who is wrong

If you dont have the news, then you cant report it.

If Chicago Joe tweets something, I automatically know it is a 50/50 chance of it being true.

We demand instant news. They wouldn't do this if there was some sort of backlash. But there never is any. All the outrage over bad stories just goes away eventually...

Instant news is ALWAYS correct. When it changes it is just a government conspiracy.

I walk around with a black hoodie and a backpack like every day. Beard has been pretty dark lately, too. I'm a little suspicious of myself, just to be honest....

I'm really tired of them blaming social networking as the reason for their mistakes.

The Onion somehow continues to get better

UPDATE: ‘The Onion’ Apologizes For Killing Innocent Boston Man Tom Mahoney

We Spoke Too Soon

BOSTON—Saying that we spoke too soon and probably should have looked at all the facts and information first before pulling the trigger, The Onion has issued an apology to the family of Boston resident Tom Mahoney, who was shot and killed by the news organization at 2:10 p.m. today. “We have learned that, contrary to our prior reports, Mr. Mahoney was in fact just a school teacher and not the Boston Marathon bomber,” read an official statement from The Onion. “Next time, instead of creating a media firestorm, misleading the public with uncorroborated information, and murdering an innocent man, we will make sure to confirm the identity of the bomber with the proper officials before taking a shot.” The Onion once again apologizes.

Boston Police have sent out another message via Twitter. We apologize for the language, but this is from Boston Police. "Fuck the Boston bomber. You bring him to me and I humble him old country style like the needle dick jabroni Hulk Hogan." We are not sure if this is an attempt to challenge someone to present themselves to authorities, but that would tell us they do not yet have anyone in custody.

Even media outlets saying others are reporting something is wrong. You get it or you don't report it.

I wonder if CNN will apologize. No qualifiers. They can't say "Our reporters got info from reliable sources and the sources were wrong."

My response would be get better sources. Or get it from 10 sources before you report it. Not the standard 2 or 3 which most journalists say is the standard. Not for something this big. Not for anything, really. But especially for a terrorist attack story.

We would like to apologize folks. Apparently that last Twitter message was not from The Boston Police Department, but rather from professional wrestler The Iron Shiek. It is a very hectic day for our news producers, and we want to bring you whatever we have as soon as possible. Again, we do not believe the Boston Police Department is considering any old school humbling treatment to the bomber. However, we cannot confirm at this time.
