It really sucks for a loved one to make it to a nice old age and still die tragically. Try to make this year as comfortable for him as possible. Not to be indelicate but get some legal representation on this immediately.

my sister-in-law has already mentioned this. the problem is, the steel mill where he worked closed in 2001. not sure if they are going to pursue legal action anyway.

Let the lawyer figure out who is responsible and still has money. That is their job.

TV ads all the time out here sue to ex steel and mining industry for this. Lawyers can/will find whoever is responsible and cash in. Not that it comforts you now.

It sure does, but at least this guy made it to 80. There are a lot of people who get mesothelioma who don't even make it to 60.

Condolences, onti.

Sorry to hear Ontiveros.

My wife's uncle has prostate cancer that has spread very quickly. He is going into hospice care at the end of the week. My wife and her mom are visiting him today, so they can say their goodbyes, just in case.

Sorry O.

Most steel companies got bought out even if the plants were shut down, most of the time it was just to the rights of a proprietary grade or something along those lines. I bet there is still someone out there to go after.

his conditioned has rapidly worsened. it's been about 6 weeks since the diagnosis and I don't think he will make it to labor day, let alone 12 months. he has a great attitude and is as comfortable as can be.

he and my mother in law have met with lawyers. those wheels are turning. his only goal is to make sure she is taken care of when he's gone.

my father-in-law died last night. it was a blessing. he was really struggling the last few weeks. it's hard to believe how fast his health deteriorated after the diagnosis in may. fortunately, his family was all able to spend quality time with him before he died.

Take solace in the fact that he is certainly in a better place, everybody got to say their goodbyes, and he did not suffer all that long.

All the best to you and yours during this upcoming difficult week.

just an update: last Friday, my mother-in-law got the "official" word (after lab results, etc) that it was indeed mesothelioma that was the cause of death of my father-in-law. not sure what happens at this point, but I assume it's all in the lawyers' hands.
