Time to put them all to bed.

It wasn't that big of a deal in the big picture and almost none of you were personally impacted by the bombing.

Neil was a jive remnant from the early 60s when he was touring thirty years ago and he cannot even sing his signature song anymore. Fake hair, no rhythm and desperately trying to be a younger man.

This tribute to Boston shit is way played out. It should be embarrassing to Bostonians at this point.

Seconded.

May I also affix a nomination for caterwauling national anthem singers? Not new of course, but definitely should be embarassing to more people than it currently is.

That's a (Boston) Brave view. IMHO it seems like ever since 911 when the press covers these tragedies the focus seems to switch to the brave citizens, first responders, etc. Positive stories of people moving on after losing limbs or loved ones. I think sometimes you just have to try to take in the tragedy and dwell on the dead and injured. It's not a movie set but I think the news sometimes covers it that way.

Every time someone sings the "Bah Bah Bah" part, I want to strangle them with a mic chord.

There are two types of people in this world. Those that like Neil Diamond and those that don't.

Neil Diamond is great and this thread can go to hell.

Please tell me you're not a fan of that bastardized version that Douchebag and his mult are mocking.

Where exactly did this particular bit of obnoxiousness even come from? Who was the first to decide this should be a thing people actually do?

I celebrate his entire collection. Sweet Caroline is overplayed but that doesnt make it a bad song. It's overplayed because it's good. That being said I have other songs that I am much more of a fan of.

Girl you'll be a woman soon, Brother Love, Solitary Man, Red Red Wine to name a few...

Drunks.

I will also call BS if someone is gonna tell me at one point in life they didnt do the 'bah bah bah' thing while drunk.

Nothing against Sweet Caroline. It's the bastardized version that's awful - right on par with some dude singing "Start spreading your legs.../Let's Pork" to the tune of "New York, New York."

He gets super-Neil Diamondy in America.

Cracklin' Rosie also a good tune.

Post subject:  Re: Sweet Caroline, Neil Diamond and Brave Bostonians

Neil Diamond is something you outgrow when you realize there are other things to listen to beisdes him, including and up to cutting a live yak in half with a band saw.

Actually, Neil is like the collection of bands (et al) that one realizes are best enjoyed once or twice a year, such as

- Boston
- Lynyrd Skynryd
- Led Zeppelin (deal with it)
- The Black Crowes
- Def Leppard
- Cheap Trick (once a year may be too much)

PLUS the maudlin sanctimony ascribed to Sweet Caroline this year is enough to make any reasonable person wretch in hopes of a quick death .... the whole nomination is as solid as any ever suggested.

Don in the morn
Do you remember
How we danced that night away
Two lovers playing scenes
From some romantic play
Don in the morning
Still can make me feel that way

Don in the morn
We danced until the night
Became a brand new day
Two lovers playing scenes
From some romantic play
Don in the morning
Still can make me feel that way
