Neighbors Want Family's Handicap Ramp Removed

Quote:
Vincent and Heidi Giesegh say their neighbors are threatening legal action if they don't remove the ramp. They say the next door couple is worried that the ramp will hurt the value of their home. The Giesegh's say they need it for their 16 year old daughter Kirsten who has Cerebral Palsy.

My brother is in a wheelchair and lives with my Mom so they have a ramp. If she ever heard about a neighbor complaining about the ramp she'd probably go nuts and do something really stupid. But why would that make your property go down? Dumbass crackers.

I guess they'll find out, as they will probably be moving pretty soon. And I agree with Hockey Gay - what's the rationale behind that hurting the property value? It's not an indicator of wild parties or a bad element or anything. Maybe they think that their potential buyers are as thick-witted as they are.

This is out best model. The Cougar 9000. It's the Rolls Royce of wheelchairs. This is like... you're almost glad to be handicapped. Its got inductive joystick, dynamic braking, flip-up arms, it's fully loaded. I put Stephen Hawking in one of these two months ago, he's lovin' it! It's rated number one by Hospital Supply and Prosthetic Magazine.

I think they use the same parts for all ATMs, so they aren't making any special just for the drivet-through ATMs.

neighbos should be forced to use driveit-through ATMs.

So there is no money at all for the city I live in to do stuff like mow city property and trim city trees and fix roads and sidewalks....but they had enough money to rip up every single intersection sidewalk to install this little 2x4 foot pad with raised dots on it so the blind don't get run over entering the street. The will fall flat on their face tripping over the uneven sidewalks on there way to the crosswalk but when they reach those bumps they will be good to cross.

That has nothing to do with this story though. Those neighbors need a punch in the dick.....and btw that is a nice looking ramp. I have seen some seriously rickety looking shit strapped on to houses but that is a fine piece of work and blends nicely with the house.

UMN...that's a law that the Villages and Muncipalities HAVE to follow. If they don't they get fined...more than the cost of the improvements.

I guess I understand wanting to make things safe for everyone if possible but this screams knee jerk government overreaction to a lawsuit against some city. You could go with a concrete saw and notch some grooves like the side of the highway....but they completely re=engineered the entire intersection to do this.

The ramp actually seems as nicely done as possible. Concrete with metal railings. Might cost more than that house!
Was thinking maybe it was done out of wood and is grey and falling apart, but nope, it seems to be in great condition.

Those houses dont look like they cost more than $90G to throw together in 6 weeks!

Neighborhood associations are the downfall of society. Formally organized or not.

Wait, you're telling me someone can't see well enough to use ATM buttons but can make out street signs at highway speed?

Neighbors need to MYOB however disregarding its purpose it does look like an after-thought entrance to a museum. A well-designed landscape would help its appearance big-time.
