Now that I'm seeing this asshole on the board banner ads constantly it reminds me how much I hate this twat.
He pushes this Filtrete filters on TV. Says they're great.
Know what they're really great at? Ruining your air conditioners and furnaces.
They're so goddamn restrictive to airflow, we're talking like doubling the allowable static pressure, that they freeze evaporators and overheat exchangers.
They're especially terrible on smaller furnaces.
Most systems allow .5 inches of water column pressure. That's like the blood pressure of the ducts outside the furnace. These filtrete filters have a filter drop of .4 or greater, which essentially is like a doctor recommending a blockage of your arteries.
I get that that doesn't make a ton of sense to y'all but take my word for it these filters are ruining your systems, and cost about 10x what you should pay for a filter, and shorten the life of your equipment, but hey, this asshole gets to cash some checks and wear cool overalls that make him look like he knows what he's talking about.

Putz.

I wonder if he and Hub share earrings? They both look equally awesome while sporting them.

Guys who wear earrings look ridiculously silly.

I'm pretty sure that Hub doesn't wear his anymore.

I dont doubt he knows his stuff, but I really love the guys who come in 2nd and give you the "This guy did it all wrong" story, and he does it plenty.

Saw him talk about cracks in a foundation. He diagnosed why the cracks happened and how to fix them wrong.

I dont like how he acts like everyone has an unlimited budget to do the work originally. Most of the time I do like what he has to say because it makes sense and I learn something. When it comes to electrical though, which i have a license in, he lets his guys do some shitty, basic, bare bones work. Put it in some fucking conduit son. Use better boxes with plaster rings, not that small shit from the 80's. He also keeps saying that its code to put each individual romex wire into the side of the panel and never the top. I have never once seen that except his show. It is mentioned nowhere in the NEC code book so it must be canadian or something. Those panels look like the god damn predator when his guy is done. He also pimps the kerdi system way too much. You don't ALWAYS need to use that. Its expensive as hell and they make a similar material sold at Menards for like 1/5 of the cost.

That would be a Space-Gard High Efficiency Air Cleaner Model 2200.

2200...2201...whatever it takes....

Stick with the 201's then... Home Depot sells boxed filters that fit those, but the actual April Aire filters are the best thing you can use, even though they cost more... And are a bitch to put in...

Use 20x25x5... I thought that's what you meant. I don't know that I've seen a 6 inch filter.
Why in the name of christ would you want that?

Use aprilaire spacegard filters. I can get you some pretty cheap. They go for $20 retail but I can get you a box where you're paying more like 10 each.

Oh also for what it's worth, the honeywell 20x25x4's fit in there if you ignore the spine fins (or whatever they are).
But the Aprilaires are the way to go to get the lowest static drop.

His show is in Canada. Might have something to do with the different standards.
