We had a student sent home for potentially having Chicken Pox recently (turned out not to be). I asked my classes how many kids have had them, a total of two. Most had no clue what I was talking about. |

When I was a kid if one kid got chicken pox parents would bring other kids by in the hopes they would get it too so they could just get it over with. |

Thanks, boys. It's pretty miserable right now, but I went to immediate care this morning and the doctor gave me a prescription for Acyclovir and said that since I came in with 24 hours of the rash appearing it should minimize the potential for real bad stuff like pneumonia and meningitis but I'm still going to have to go through the itching and scabbing. Thanks, Doc! I can't imagine what my face is going to look like in two or three days. The funny thing is that back in July I went to get a full physical for the first time since high school because my wife forced me to. I swear I told that doctor that I had never had it and I thought he gave me the vaccine. I guess not. Either that or the vaccine isn't so great. |

Had an allergic reactuon to Amoxycillin 20 years ago and it reminded me of having CP as a kid. It was awful for like 36 hours. Seems like the perfect time to seek comfort in Golden Boy. |

Either that or the vaccine isn't so great. i had a similar discussion with my doctor back when my kids were real little, and i wanted the vaccine. he explained to me that the vaccine is actually inject a small amount of the virus into your system that in turn is supposed to fool your system into thinking you have had it, or something along those lines. he vigorously insisted that i NOT do it, because occasionally it will give the recipient the disease who otherwise would not have had it. he was quite insistent on it too, telling me i didnt want to play around with that and with kids all getting vaccinated these days you have a better chance of getting it from the vaccine than you do from a kid or any other person. so i still havent and i hope i never get that shit, good luck. |

bigfan wrote: Isnt it called the Measels after age 12? No, the measles are worse. That's why we inoculate against it early, or did before some quack told people the shot gives babies autism. |

They say the Shingles hurt real bad but when I had it about 12-14 years ago it just made me real weak and tired. I did a good job of not scratching myself. |

Chus wrote: Nowadays, children also get the chicken pox vaccine. And the first generation of the vaccine they gave 11-12 yrs ago was absolutely worthless. My oldest caught the damn chicken pox 7-8 months after he was "vaccinated". Then gave me the shingles. |

I don't think I'm dying, but it almost feels like it. Calomine lotion? I'm bathing in that shit. |

Sorry to hear, JORR...I sent you some Brisnet PP's for Aqueduct yesterday. It was 7 for 7 in the chalks, and then a 28-1 won the 8th race and eliminated me from the pick 4. It went for over $1100 for a .50 bet. The chicken pox is how I became a Cubs fan. I caught it in the Summer of '88 (sucks, you want it during the school year so you can miss time ), and after cartoons went off, the only thing on was Cubs games. |
