Five years from now when you are drinking on a weeknight in a bar in Beverly after a long day of sitting in your no work, 19th ward assisted city job you can brag to the other political hacks about that stat padding, unnecessary touchdown you scored against Ball State rather than the second year in a row of having a BCS team do a tap dance on your face in a bowl game. Congrats!

Hopefully one of those rub-a-dubs at Cork and Kerry doesn't remember that the line was 9 and that you not taking a knee in that situation cost him money.

I absolutely knew this was a gambling nomination without knowing the details.

I didn't bet against him. I would have taken NIU if the number hadn't jumped during the week from 5.5 to 9.5. I bet he wouldn't cover the 9. It was the right play as they were not covering the number at any point in the game until the 1:30 mark of 4Q but sometimes the right side loses.

He is Tebow without the religion stuff. Which makes me think he will have a shot of being in the league for a few years. He will never be a star though.

Is this that NIU player the media keeps propping up as some sort of a Heisman candidate?

Yes. The guy whose odds are currently 40-1 to win the Heisman, which puts him behind about ten guys. He won't be invited to NY, which unfortunately means, that he isn't a candidate.

Look, it's a nice story that NIU has been the tallest midget in the MAC for some time now. Good dolphin is right that they will get smoked again if they are picked for a BCS game. But, I would rather see them play, than watch Notre Dame, or "Big Game" Bob Stoops, and Oklahoma get pounded in January, AGAIN.

I laugh at that hat size. I ridicule that hat size.

I'm not saying that he'll get invited to NY, but this logic is...........um.........bad.

Does the downtown athletic club check the Vegas odds when deciding who to invite?

Why is it bad? The Heisman candidates are invited to New York. This is nothing new. Nobody outside of Chicagoland considers him to be a Heisman candidate. That is just the truth. You don't have to be overly sensitive, just because you are an alum, just enjoy the ride.

No, but the odds are a reflection on how these guys are viewed. It's like when you watch a sports broadcast, and they mention that the #18th ranked team upset the #8 ranked team, despite the fact that the 18th ranked team was favored. Vegas odds are established after crunching numbers. AP/Coach rankings are popularity contests. The odds do mean something. The reason that Winston, Manziel, Mariota, and Petty have the shortest odds, is because they are the best players, and are most likely to win the Heisman.

If Lynch gets invited to New York, I will apologize immediately.

I feel confident that I am not being over sensitive to this topic when another person is making 200 word responses all in red.

I just said the logic is bad to say that because the odds makers have 40-1 to win then he isn't a candidate to get invited to NY. I don't think that any of the voters, from Lujack to Tebow to Bernstein - consult such odds before casting a vote. The logic doesn't add up.

How many are they inviting this year? 3? 5?

I will take your advice and try to "just enjoy the ride".

Talk about bad logic.

The number of words, and color of print, are more important than the actual content?

The actual content of the red text included feeling the need to apologize if he gets invited.

The color and amount of text is more important than the actual content? It's bad to admit that I'm wrong, if I'm wrong?

Did I wake up in bizarro world today?
