Only time this is ever acceptable is if you're about to rob a bank and this is your getaway car

The worst is people who do it in time sensitive situations like parking at the train.

Yes. There is a host of people who do this in our parking garage at the office.

The ultimate is the guy who backs into the furthest possible spot, taking up two spaces, so he can protect his Nissan Cube. Also a guy who wears a baseball hat and sunglasses to his desk everyday. Impossible for me to hate someone more.

well this wasn't really time sensitive as it doesn't really matter if i'm 2 or 3 minutes late coming in , but some asshole in our lot was doing this for like 5 minutes this morning and preventing me from getting to another spot

i'll do the 'pull ahead' of course, if you're in a lot where the spots aren't angled and there's no one in the spot in front, i'll move forward so that the car is facing foward but that's clearly different

In that situation, I back into the spot and then pull ahead to the other spot.

How do you let that go on?

You have to do something

I back in everywhere other than when I go to Costco.

I'm a "back into a space" guy unless people are waiting.

Too many people walking around texting now days, not paying any attention to there surroundings. it's just safer to back in and pull out.

Thought about changing that. You beat the over/under I had by three full minutes.

Low hanging fruit. Had to go for it.

Usually don't back into a space unless I drop someone off and am waiting in the car for them. I
don't usually like to try to people watch and spy through the rearview mirror. I won't try to squeeze
between two other cars but if I have a wide berth and it is a quick and easy park job I'll do it knowing
I will be leaving as soon as I see the person I am with coming out of the store.

Does a Barry Rozner make that mistake?

This thread should be titled "people who can't drive backing into parking spaces." The same would go for those blocking traffic attempting to parallel park. It takes me less than 15 seconds to back into a spot.

15 seconds to just back in or parallel park?

Because 15 to just back in is a LIFETIME

Takes 1.7 seconds to pull in forward

15 seconds to parallel park is also kind of high. Move along, Gramps. Valet that shit.

Imagine a busy mall parking lot where everyone takes 15 seconds to park. It would take an hour to get into the store.

Maybe backing into a spot works for country folk going to the local food and livestock store but it doesn't work in places people want to live in.

I meant parallel park. I can back in to a spot as fast as I can pull in to one. It just depends on conditions which one I do. I'm nothing, if not whimsical.

I don't back up enough. That's the way to go. When you have ass bags who fly through parking lots, being able to pull forward out of your spot is much safer.

Right. I drive an Altima. It's not exactly high off the ground. Parking next to two large vehicles makes it impossible to see cars as I'm backing up. Thanks for living up to your name, though.

Denied. Backing in to a parking spot mathematically decreases accidents caused when leaving a parking spot.

And if you have to wait 5 seconds, tough titty.

People who can't do it quickly and fluidly, yes they're d-bags ... but just because they're shitty drivers.

Hell I very often back in to park while playing GTA.

Exactly. And don't forget the folks walking around staring at their phone with earplugs in.
