So if someone here were to start harassing you via PM everyday you wouldn't ask Biggie to make that person stop?

Speaking of, lots of traitors crawling back to take advantage of that which they once scorned and denigrated.

That's the problem with ending a long tradition of hazing. Nobody wants it to stop after they've been through it and now they're on top.

I'm wondering if he ever tried to defend himself. If not I wouldn't want to go to battle with a guy that won't even defend himself. It's one thing to lose but it's another to not even try.

No, it goes much deeper than that. Richie Incognito has been a problem since college at Nebraska. He got into fights with teammates as well as opposing players over the years, had troubles with alcohol/drug abuse. The Rams got rid of him because he was a problem not only because he was heavily penalized for being a dirty player, but had argued with the coaches as well, when they tried to rein in his behavior that was detrimental to the team. He's just a bad guy. The voicemail was just the cherry on top. But because it could be put out there for public consumption, it was hard not to act on.

That's the first inclination, but you don't mess with crazy people. You think Incognito isn't crazy and likely has guns and shit? I'm sure other players were involved too. Nobody needs to deal with that shit.

I'm sure that's true and that like children who are abused, they often become abusers. However, Incognito was a bad guy long before he was ever hazed and a guy who was voted dirtiest player, until Suh pushed him to #2. He was even fined for spitting on a player during a game. Just a bad guy.

Well we need to hear about those players too. Not just the easy target. I still believe if he would have defended himself the stuff would have ended. Instead he lived in daily fear because of what he didn't do. I'm in agreement that it isn't something he should have to deal with but in life the same can be said about a lot of things.

I agree, he should have (if he didn't initially-hard to know) stood up for himself and told Incognito to fuck off. But this is a guy with a history of physical altercations with opposing players AND teammates. He's a classic bully who has perfected his bullying techniques. It wasn't just Martin who was forced to pay for player nights out and vacations. There were others who have not been named yet. Maybe never will be. It's just that Martin made the decision to allow his representatives to come forward with the voicemail and tell people what has been taking place there. Because he made that decision, I have to wonder if he might be shunned by teammates now. What happens in a locker room is supposed to stay there.

I think we'll get the full story in the coming weeks and months. Both may have a hard time playing in the NFL again.

It's a different world. What happened on the Dolphins is sick. But I see bullying and hazing stories all the time in the Daily Herald. Most of it I attribute it to kids being kids. But with schools and organizations liable for mental and physical abuse, this stuff is getting stamped out quickly. It's a politically correct world where everyone is owed something to right every wrong. The spread of social media and citizens journalism has only fanned the flames of outrage.

I love how Icognito did the PSA announcement for the Dolphins about how the fans aren't supposed to act and no swearing or drunken behavior and how to treat each other. Doh!!!!!

I don't get the hazing thing. There was no hazing shit in the 4 years of HS football I played at Lyons Township (a huge school) and there was no hazing in my college soccer or baseball team other than freshman shaving their heads. It seems like people want to say "everybody's been doing it forever," but they haven't. I'm sure some have, but not everybody.

Again, he violated the sanctity of the locker room when he made the decision to go public (through his representatives) with this matter. It seems a bit cowardly to have had his representatives handling this, rather than having done it himself too. I think that he will find it hard to carry on with this career as a result of airing what players might consider a private matter that should have stayed private. Not that I believe he was wrong to do something to make this end. I just think he handled it poorly.

Didn't Elmhurst Steve once brag about some high school hazing he was part of? Maybe it was in college.

Steve, have you ever bullied anyone?

Absolutely no hazing of any physical kind. Practical jokes with teammates in College. Just pranks though and everyone got involved and everyone was a victim of the pranks now and then. Nobody was ever physically harmed at all though. My favorite was baby powder blown under the door into a teammates room. It looked like it had snowed in the room.
