Quote: AFC Wild Card: Chargers at Bengals, 1 p.m. (CBS) Jeff Triplette is the referee, who is in his 18th season and 15th as referee. This is Triplette’s 13th postseason assignment (7 Wild Card Playoffs, 4 Divisional Playoffs, and 1 Conference Championship). Jeff Triplette is an awful awful awful referee. That this hillbilly keeps getting assignments is an huge indictment of the NFL's integrity. I can't stand this incompetent asshole. |

This has been the worst season for NFL referees that I have ever seen. Just awful. Replacement referee bad. The NFL needs to review PI & roughing calls because the referees blow these calls in nearly every game. |

Carl Cheffers had a terrible year, as did Jerome Boger, and Ed Hochuli. |

There was a good three part series on life of an NFL ref on MMQB. For the amount these guys obsess over their grades, you would think obvious shit like 8 guys on one side of a FG block couldn't happen. |

Cheffers was terrible in the Lions/Ravens Monday night game in week 15, and followed it up with another brutal performance for GB/Pitt in week 16. It will be a joke if he gets a playoff game. |

Does the head ref have any control over the people on his crew? LIke do they get to pick all the other officials or does the NFL say here are your guys coach em up and make sure they dont suck. |

Most importantly the calls/no calls seem to be coming at points that turn the game which I think has called the league's credibility into question. |

You and SH are correct though. Just a horrible fucking year for refs. Make a damn call and let replay sort it out. The back judge and umpire from the Chargers debacle should be fired. |
