Jerry Angelo ranking the NFL's starting QBs is like me telling you who the best wedding gown designers are!

Then I get this gem....which is a great WYC!

-Text to BB "Sams could be a 2nd round pick, Dan Byzine was a 2rd round pick!"
-Lotsa laughing, Terry tells you, that guy was terrible. Dan agrees!
-Dan chimes in "Lets talk to a professional about it, next we will talk with Greg Gabriel"
-Ex Bears director of College scouting who drafted Dan Byzine in the 2nd round and a mess of other really bad Non NFL level players!!!!!

What do I get next, an interview with Mike Tice on the best OL players in the game today!

They took the Bears to a Super Bowl and probably should have won, yet they are probably the last group of people you want to evaluate talent. Amazing, isn't it? How incredibly awful was their drafting?

Those offensive lines got better as the year went on. Most of those players weren't NFL players. I will agree Carimi was his guy and he was injured and bad.

The offensive line got better each year about 6-8 games in, but not all of those Cutler sacks were the line's fault. First, Forte had put up some pretty solid numbers during that stretch, so they were at least opening holes. Second, there were some AWFUL receivers over that time leaving Cutler with few options to throw to and an increase in sacks.

What happened to Lance Louis? Was his injury that bad?

They had to change the whole offense 3 games in because the line was so bad. The line didn't get better, Cutler just took less steps and the plays where limited to a Madden style Xbox game. The receivers looked worse because they had 3 seconds to get open. Knox was a speedster who needed time to get open and Bennett got killed every time Cutler threw to him because he had to rush his throws. The line couldn't even block long enough for Bennett to do a 5 yard route.

Likely you are right. Its just that my lasting memory was the several times they showed Hester, Bennett, Clark, Knox, etc. trying to get open and they all seemed to be getting killed off the line and then covered the whole route.

Angelo rightly gets criticized, but I think it's fair to also point out his ability to surround the Jordan he inherited (Urlacher) with a stellar supporting cast (Tillman, Briggs, Harris, etc). Too bad the same didn't follow on offense, though he did build a good line before it all came crashing down in the late 2000s.

Apparently Lance Louis was that bad.

Dolphins cut him. Signed to a reserve contract by the Colts.
