For making an entire generation of females think it is OK to dress like you found a sheet from when you were 7 and made a dress out of it with a bow! To show up in public unshowered with greasy unbrushed hair! exposing your mega flabby ugly tatooed arms and dress with less and less clothing exposing your full out gut , all of this under the pretense that you should be proud of yourself no matter what you look like, and making an effort to stay in shape and dress well, isnt cool! I will then take the "uncool" girl everyday of the week! And by the way, I think all these females work at Whole Foods! |

How dare you ... her show is 'the height of female self-expression' and she's the 'queen of comedy'. |

BF, I saw her on some talk show. (Jay or Conan) She was ignorant and a real bitch. Of course Hollywood embraces that shit, until they get bored and throw her to the curb. |

Yeah, I don't think she realizes that she's just the latest Hollywood fad. She'll be found dead w/ 4 heroin needles in her arm by 2017. |

Neither she nor her show are really as awful as they're made out to be. One thing that is interesting is that for all the talk about being progressive and taking a stand against fat-shaming, all the men with their clothes off on camera seem to be in pretty good shape, no homo. |

Havent seen much of it this season, as it is just old and for some reason the whole concept of the show seems really dumb after "True D"...not sure what is so progressive...isnt this Season 3 of the same shit? What seems to be ironic is that it is playing off the insecurities of young women |

I've learned that the key to not freaking out over this show is to contextualize the principal characters as terrible people, à la such shows as Mad Men or Breaking Bad. When you realize that they're not brave feminist warriors but just contemptibly self-absorbed trust fund babies traipsing around the city like it's an amusement park, it's a lot easier to appreciate. And maybe the idea that women on TV can be awful the way men on TV are awful is the real lesson about gender equality. |

Your own show prep seems to be unique to your viewing time. |

I don't have HBO or Showtime, so I'll just have to ride out this show's grip on the collective consciousness a la Game of Thrones. |

Maybe not, but I'm not gonna be the one going "get that fat bitch off my TV." Anyway, cool spring 2012 thread. So Bulls over the Sixers in 4, right? |

i get that; i personally don't really give a shit about her or her show and i don't have HBO anyway. i do think that she is a flavor of the week and she ought to enjoy it...because she most likely will be a one trick pony. she's appealing to exactly the right crowd right now...but it'll grow old. |

I see the show eventually sputtering like an untied balloon in the air, she lies low for a while, then comes back with a new project and more learning experiences. I do feel like she's talented and savvy enough to stay in the game. |

No one really watches Mad Men, either. All these shows are vastly overrepresented in the discourse and basically act as critical-acclaim loss leaders for their channels. In fact, it could even be argued that AMC is a loss leader unto itself, and that with the end of bundled cable channels, no one would pay the higher carriage fee for the standalone channel and it, and many other specialty cable channels, would die. |

It always has had a GREAT lead in....Boardwalk Empire and then True Detective, really shows they know the show cant stand by itself when they launched a new show and still kept it Number 2.... And I dont care that all the cast members are related to someone famous, usually never changes my view of a show or movie, except in the case of Ben Stiller, who sucks to high heaven and has ruined more decent movies than I can ever count in my life. |
