Hey let me throw out a big "FUCK YOU" to all these out of touch movie stars who think they just cured cancer in their frickin speeches. Let me break it down: * You are an actor * You are given a role * You act It's that simple. There is no overcoming insurmountable odds,no great story for most of them. Part of being human is dealing with tragedy, not something to use as a tool in an Oscar speech to emote sympathy. Some of the best speeches were by the people behind the camera,as usually is the case. |

It's amazing to me that actors are such poor speakers. It's not amazing to me that they are all totally self-absorbed. |

I watched one year when a bunch of us wagered some big money that Russell Crowe would win an award for Beautiful Mind, this according to one of my buddies wives who GUARANTEED ME he was winning. I think he was like a +140, we dropped about $500 on him with winnings going towards plane tickets for Vegas. Winner was Denzel for Training day. We lose. |

I am not worthy of this, this, sublime honor. To my fellow nominees, I will say that you are all truly inspiring. Your commitment to the craft, your grace and dignity on the screen, your bravery in the choices you make...you are a beacon to those of us who aspire to reach the heights of this art. I bow to you, sirs. You are titans of the technique. I just would like to say that acting is more than a process. It's more than just putting on an outfit and pretending to be someone else. It's a passion, a trade, a vocation. We were all called to this wondrous miracle of a profession. And we will continue to strive to be ever zealous, ever steadfast, and ever rousing. |

Its a movie good enough to break down into parts and re watch like its a show. I worked at Hollywood video years ago and my manager said she watched 40 year old virgin every night before bed. I asked how do you watch it every night. She said she watches like 15 mins and falls asleep. I love doing that with great rewatchable movies now |

Not to start a fight with yah Jimmie but as I only watched about the last hour and a half I was able to witness what I considered the greatest acceptance speech in history. McConnahay crushed it out of the park for a walk off grand slam ending the World Series. |

I hear ya', Hawger. I'm not a big movie person, either. It's actually surprising that I've seen and love Goodfellas. And I HATE when people say," YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THAT!?!?!?" when talking about their favorite movies. |
