60% of you are probably supporting the wrong guy. When we get to November, you're just going to have up the nominee's sign anyway, so why bother supporting a probable loser and being a hypocrite when you start supporting your primary guy's opponent. Take that shit down.

You just called most Obama supporters hypocrites. Hopefully you get attacked by them!

I think I'm actually calling Hillary supporters in 2008 hypocrites, just to clarify my stance.

Well, almost all Obama voters started off supporting someone else.

Prepare to get treated like chas is and hounded in every thread!

I just find it funny, when watching all of these political ads for the governor's race in Illinois. The republicans are tearing each other apart, but when whoever wins, everyone who supported the losers will just forget everything bad they said about the winner, and act like nothing happened. Seems silly to me.

I do agree. Politics is stupid though. It's just unfortunate Jon Stewart won't run for office and fix everything.

Hillary tried to recruit Republicans to help her against Obama. I remember this clever, if not desperate comment during the campaign:

"Sen. McCain brings a lifetime of experience to the campaign. I bring a lifetime of experience. And Sen. Obama brings a speech he gave in 2002."

She was trying to get Republican voters to switch ballots (as McCain was already assumed to have the GOP nomination wrapped up) and vote for her in the Democratic primary.

I think Quinn et al are hoping for something similar...get Dems to vote against Rauner in the primary.

I see far too many people who still have Christmas decorations still on their house. I'll leave my house accoutrement scorn for them.

Uh...yeah. Up until this weekend those decorations were buried under 2 feet of snow. I've still got candy canes down my sidewalk. They are unplugged, but still up.

No. Especially when they are supporting a sticker for the losing candidate(s)

I kept my Obama magnet on the car for a good two years after the election, just because I knew it pissed off a few people at work...

Good point! It's bad to praise a guy if you like him! We should just stick to getting news from Wolf Blitzer and Chris Wallace because they're serious journalists! We should also just keep electing the same politicians because they're doing such a great job! What the hell would a lowly comedian know?

Status quo! Status quo! Status quo!

You know I agree with your thoughts on the cable news journalists and status quo, but what is Al Franken doing to change politics in Washington? That's the precedent, right?

That's not my point. Jon Stewart could be a shitty politician, and it doesn't bother me if others don't like him at all. To each their own. It's that Rick acts like anyone who likes him is an idiot because he's a comedian, as though our standard for journalism in this country will suffer by taking a "comedian" seriously. Our standard for journalism in this country is already embarrassing. What the hell does it matter if the guy was a comedian? He can't be any worse than what we already have.

Again. I'm not the one who came up with the "He's just a comedian" stuff! It was done to defend comedians who selectively choose when they are political minds. Now, it happens more with others like Bill Maher, but it also happens with Stewart, and much of it comes from his own act.

Take him seriously if you want but then just don't say "He's a comedian" when it fits you. If you don't do that, then stop taking it like a personal insult.

Again, I agree with this stance on some levels, even though I think we can all judge when someone's joking and when they're not. However, that's not what you said in this thread. You made a passive-aggressive remark about Jon Stewart running for office and fixing all the world's problems, which isn't what anyone ever said.

He seems to think he can.

Anyways, I like Stewart. I don't like the games he plays though that is mostly the default of people like you who say things like "He's very important".

I think he's intelligent and has a good perspective and has a great forum to point out the craziness of modern media. And, even if he's picking low-hanging fruit, he's the only guy with a large audience who seems to do so, for whatever reasons. That's pretty much my entire stance on him.
