Nah your selection and prices and service are fine. However you have massacred that Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah song and I can't take it any more. For shame, Binnies. You rotten bastards. |

The fact they filmed it during summer and playing it now makes it worse. |

They got 2 shipments of it. Sold out the first day on the first and after a few days on the second (mainly cause nobody realized they got more) I found some the other day, but I have plenty stashed so left it for RedskinGreg. |

When we went to check out the beer, they didn't want to take his expired license, so I said, "Okay, here's my license. I'll buy it." But that was a big fucking deal that required management approval. I guess you can't buy beer at Binny's if your underage kid is with you now. Anyway, fuck that, I've already got enough headaches in my life. Now we go to Sinicalypse Mart on Lincoln. They have a pretty good selection and they don't require ID from 50 year old men. |

I almost was denied buying beer at Mariano's a couple month's ago because my wife didn't have her ID. I asked what do they do when a parent comes in and buy's alcohol with their child present. They said, "Well, obviously they are not purchasing it for them". And they know this how? This is one of the dumbest/short-sighted company policies I have ever seen at a store. |

Yeah, it's a terrible policy because I don't even think the store has any exposure. They guy who bought the beer had ID. What he does with it when he leaves the store is on him. So really it's just an attack on the customer. And what does it get them? I don't go to Binny's anymore and i second their Douchebags on message boards. As far as the expired ID is concerned, I can understand not accepting it to a degree. But for people who are older than thirty, it's kind of silly. I get that a 22 year old guy could give his old license to his 19 year old buddy who looks like him so he can try to sneak past a bouncer at a club with a quick moving line when it's dark and the dope is using a flashlight. But it's a brightly lit store and there's no doubt this drunken 30 year old idiot is the guy pictured on the ID. You're in business to sell beer, not to make buying it as difficult as possible. |

Man, times have changed. There used to be a liquor store at 47th and Woodlawn called Gill's. It had a drive-thru window. The sold gallon jugs of their own beer. Or you could bring your own vessel and have them fill it from the tap. The tagline for the beer was "Never Goes Flat. Stays Cold Without Ice." Joe Orr Road Rod wrote: Yeah, there's some new Indians in town. These new guys aren't friendly like the old guys were. yeah the new guys really try to play that "ignorance" card where they start pretending to look up the price and then voila, it costs more than it really should cost. it's pretty damn clever on their part and you gotta give 'em their credit for doing it, cuz if they get somebody who's just passing through or whatever they're not gonna catch it and you're gonna pay 50cents-$3 more for the stuff than it really costs. you know the one owner dude who's usually there in the morning? the guy with the glasses who often wears the red "hindu dot" (or at least that's what we called it growing up) with all of the gold rings on his hands? that guy is evidently some sort of a big deal in the hiearchy of his local church/equivalent and is a part of the management over there. i think it's out in park ridge or something and he told me about it years ago with the open invitation to come and check out the service (cuz i do wonder about religions of the world like that) but i never got around to it. the other guy has glasses but no dot/bling and is a bit shorter with the dark hair, and he's good cuz he'll always round down and give me extra change and shit. those two make it obvious that they totally respect you as a "usual customer" and thus are the ones who know when i say "hey i gotta pick up my check later today so can you help out with some buglers for a few hours?" that i'll come back and etc. the new round of people who tend to be there afternoons/evenings.... yeah, even tho they've been there for a month or two now they're still pretending to look up the prices so it can magically show up as more expensive than it would be than the oldschool guys who know. go figure. hell, that new lady actually tried going for the gold with me.... i got my $11.08 cigarettes (grumble grumble) and used one of those parliament $1 coupons and handed her $21.08 (cuz i forgot to subtract the $1 from the usual $11 so i'd get 10 back) and she gave me my dollar back and put the 20 in the drawer like "thank you" and i'm standing there like "uhhhh you know i gave you $20" and she looks back at me like "THANK YOU!" and i'm like "no that's not a tip ma'am, i should be getting $10 change back" and then i see the other new guy shoot her a look to which she gets smacked down and then starts going "OH SO SORRY SO SORRY I AM SO SORRY" before giving me my $10 back. i've been around long enough to have the guy at the BP do that to me (and it actually worked) so you gotta applaud their balls for trying it, but yeah, combine that with another cashier at a dunkin donuts trying the same thing with $5 change and an ATM machine that said it was giving me cash and didn't even open the cash door before 45 seconds passed and it said "WOULD YOU LIKE ANOTHER TRANSACTION?" and i think society as a whole is turning on me. i gotta be careful. |
