Too bad, Ike. You had your chance to support the Shack. You didn't, and now they have to close 100s of stores. Deal with it! |

pittmike wrote: LMFAO! you nailed what i ALMOST did. but it was already too late. RED ON RIGHT when i was inserting the newly crimped jst connectors into their sockets. somehow, red ended up on left and i plugged the little eq in with reversed polarity. the little dc-dc controller i was using squealed, but by the time i could remove it was too late. i flipped the polarity around after i figured out what was wrong, but the sound barely came through when i tried it, and was garbly. the ne5532p ic's are fried, at least one of two. i ordered 4 of them. i also noticed there is a NE5532AP on the board, not sure what the difference is. i didnt read the datasheets that close. but i ordered a couple of those too anyway. this is the board i bought. seems nice. pairing it with a 41hzaudio BASIC 6 amp http://www.ebay.com/itm/171076215313 this is amp i am using. FUCKING SWEET amp. better sound then my full size home theater stereo, no joke. its incredible how good music is supposed to sound. http://shop.41hz.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=43 side note- USE the standby switch on the basic 6 amp! that means build a darlington transistor circuit to give you a delayed-on like home stereos have. otherwise you will be desoldering and resoldering these bitches! which is even more of a bitch when you dont have a solder vac and you have to use wick! |

Actually I miss those days. Now all my shit is surface mount / wave soldered and you don't fix shit. Swap the board and move along. |

we all say dumb shit here and give others shit when its not us saying dumb shit because thats what makes this place awesome. i want to get hot tweezers to do surface mount stuff. with my lights i build, its nearly impossible to desolder single diodes without creating a mess. and a solder vac. i have one of those spring pumps but fuck those things... i guess if i used my quickchip low melt solder it would work fine but whats the point if youre already using the expensive solder. thing is, a solder vac is $200 and so are hot tweezers. shits expensive. |

Post subject: | Re: Radio Shack |
Low melt solder should never be used. It doesn't hold up even at temps around 150 for prolonged times. One of those lights in a trunk or on something for a few weeks might start having problems. Stick with the better solder. |

For your thing you should just do the best you can and if you get the patent or whatever. When you move to ramping stuff up you farm that shit out. Your money is in design and idea and not manufacturing that yourself. |

Post subject: | Re: Radio Shack |
low melt solder is used to apply over already soldered pins, and it stays wet for a good 20 seconds after you take the heat away from it. you can just flood all the pins on the tripath ic and pull it right off the board with your fingers. its great. then you just wick all that crap out of the holes and when you go to put the new chip back in, you use real solder. im almost done with the provisional patent. itll be submitted soon. i have been making and donating as many as i can in the meantime as trial testing. this is the only way to know if the product is good and what needs improvement, and believe me there has been a few changes. now that i am finalized on how i build these, the provisional patent can be finished and submitted. if someone wants to be an asshole and steal my idea in the next month here, fine. you gotta buy one first |

pittmike wrote: Actually I miss those days. Now all my shit is surface mount / wave soldered and you don't fix shit. Swap the board and move along. Most PCB surface mount components are high temperature compatible parts that can maintain their integrity until 500 degree C & are made from LCP, which has a low moisture absorption rate that can go through a reflow oven. The wave solder process is for standard material components not surface mount components. |
