Just got my bill today. My usage went down 20% from the prior month and yet the bill was actually higher than the previous month. And now they want me to take time out of my day so they can inspect/change a 3-4 yr. old meter in my home. On top of that, those bastards have had main line replacement for the last 45 days in the neighborhood, so any street that wasn't wrecked by the snow is wrecked now.

The charge per therm is almost $1.20. It was $0.93 per them the month before. It was less in February.

Deregulation my ass. Now I know exactly how the citizens of California felt when Enron artificially boosted rates and then hit them with rolling blackouts (except for large municipalities that didn't go for the okee-doke). Fracking & the highest output of natural gas drilling my ass. Gouging bastards.

This is a nomination I can support. I went several years without having a gas bill over $200 and this winter that happened several times.

Jimmy Carter was right. Turn down the thermostat and put on a damned sweater. :x

It sits at 66 in my house. It can't much lower.

This was a bad year for us. Coldest winter in a long time and we had infants in the house so my wife guilt tripped me into not turning it down to 66 or 67. We kept things at 70 all winter. :evil: There were literally days when the furnace never kicked off once.

Why is gasoline $4.00 a gallon again? Did I miss the excuse this time?

Just recycle one of the ones we have heard over the past 6 or 7 years.

Is it too early for the "summer blend" bs?

I would have expected gas invoices to be higher this winter. It was a hell of a lot colder than last year, or the year before or pretty much every year. THe per therm rate though, how much higher was that?

I heard some ladies talking about having $300-600 gas bills, living in apartments. My last one was $160~ in a drafty hobbit hole. They must keep their temps up in 80s.

Don't use any gas for one month and see what your bill is.

They screwed with me on my March bill. For Jan/Feb, when it was record cold, they took an "estimated" reading in February that was obviously wayyy too low. So, when they take my 3/24 reading it's got huge usage, most of which was from Jan/Feb but I'm getting charged 24/30th of the bill on the March therm rate which was something like $0.41 in Jan, $0.48 in Feb and $0.61 in March.

So, I probably paid an extra $50 just because they took an estimated reading in February. And I know they did this on purpose.

Nicor bill arrived today;

March and April 68 cents per therm.

I periodically submit my meter readings on line but I have no clue if they use them or not.
