The NBA has known who he is for a long time. Now everyone else does too. Late on Friday, TMZ released a purported recording in which Clippers owner Donald Sterling chastised his girlfriend for posting a photo with Magic Johnson to Instagram and generally being seen with Black people. (The girlfriend has Black and Latino heritage.) He told her she should not bring Blacks to "his games." This is just the latest in a long series of very racist moments in Sterling's life. http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2014/4/26/5 ... ing-racist It's your move Adam Silver. |

leashyourkids wrote: Yikes. A May 15 banquet for the Los Angeles chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People just became a lot more intriguing. The group is planning to honor Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling with a lifetime achievement award. This is the 100th anniversary of the L.A. chapter. |

If Silver had a backbone, he would suspend him right now pending his further investigation. he is playing the "If I do nothing, I can do nothing wrong " card, which is the spineless legal side of the issue. if he suspends Sterling AKA Doesnt let him attend the games, do you think Sterling has some kind of legal action he can take? and seeing that "the league" would be paying him, its like sueing his business partners. Silver needs to show some testicular fortitude |

Nas wrote: If I own the team and partially own the arena can you really stop me from coming to the arena? Yes, you can be suspended. It is really the only thing that can be done of consequence. See Marge Schott and I assume Irsay is going to get some Direct TV time on Sundays. You can fine him, but even $10 Mill, isn't an issue and he will gladly pay it. |

I know he's shouted ignorant things at his players but it's highly unlikely the he ever said anything over 30 years that would lead any owner or commissioner to believe he is a bigot. |

He was well known for losing a discrimination case he fought with the DOJ. Elgin Baylor sued him for discrimination. |

Barry O's reaction "When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don’t really have to do anything, you just let them talk. … The United States continues to wrestle with the legacy of race and slavery and segregation, that’s still there, the vestiges of discrimination. We’ve made enormous strides, but you’re going to continue to see this percolate up every so often. And I think that we just have to be clear and steady in denouncing it, teaching our children differently, but also remaining hopeful that part of why statements like this stand out some much is because there has been this shift in how we view ourselves." He did say essentially the same thing about the good Rev Wright, correct? |
