I don't know what it is. I can't actually explain why it is bad for you. I don't have an allergy to it. I didn't speak to anyone who has any actual clue about it. However, my friend Marcy told me that I need to cut it out of my diet because it is bad for me. She cut out gluten for a month and she lost weight and feels better. She also happens to be exercising, eating more fruits and vegetables, and also probably lying about how much better her "gluten-free" lifestyle really is.

Down with Gluten! My problems are solved!

I'm sure I have lots of friends/family that do not consume many different things - certain types of foods, drinks, hell even cigarettes - but nobody feels the need to share/preach their personal restrictions like the gluten-free crowd. They seem to be just begging for somebody to bring it up.

People that refrain from cigarettes don't push their lack of nicotine the way that some of my friends/co-workers push their avoidance of bread and pasta. It's unreal.

I am personally grateful for people like Marcy - they are doing god's work.

I don't know who he is. I can't actually explain why he hates Mac. I don't have a problem with him. I didn't speak to anyone who has any actual clue about him. However, my friend Frank told me that I need to cut him out of my message board consumption because he is bad for me. Frank cut out gloopan for a month and received free beer, a Rockies tote bag, and a mini fridge. He also happens to be ethically questionable with the check-out process, not a Rockies fan, and also probably lying about how much better his "gloopan free" his message boarding really is.

The Gluten thing is a pain. We have parents putting their kids on gluten free diets. Fine, that is there choice. But these folks come over to our house for parties, and get pissed when we don't have gluten free cakes and other dishes catered to their "choice".

I am sympathetic to a degree because my mom has celiac disease and needs to be gluten free. My wife is nice enough to provide a few things that are gluten free. If it is my mom's birthday, we'll make sure she has her own cake. But to these other fools who think I need to follow their new age diet, go screw yourselves.

Agree

I know 1 person whose kid has Celiacs, they figured it out when she wasnt growing and they did a number of tests on her.

from the Mayo Clinic

Celiac disease is an immune reaction to eating gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye.

If you have celiac disease, eating gluten triggers an immune response in your small intestine. Over time, this reaction produces inflammation that damages the small intestine's lining and prevents absorption of some nutrients (malabsorption).

The intestinal damage can cause weight loss, bloating and sometimes diarrhea. Eventually, your brain, nervous system, bones, liver and other organs can be deprived of vital nourishment.

My sister has my niece on a gluten free diet...but she is already a truck!!!!!! So, she is just full of shit

I think Spaulding and Mr. Reason were our resident anti-glutes here. Seacrest too, probably.

What's Gluten?

It's the stuff that makes pizza stuff light and fluffy! so it must be good!

Seacrest has a celiac issue. I think Scorehead, Reason, and I are gluten free by choice. I don't push it on anybody, and I bring my own food to most parties. I don't expect people to have options for me. I don't care what anybody else eats and I don't force my family to do it although they do eat a lot of gluten free foods because I do the grocery shopping. I have a lot less health issues since I have been gluten/dairy free.

It's a protein matrix formed by gliadin and glutenin. It traps air in pockets in the dough, which allow it to rise. So you are correct!

Know any good gluten-free recipes that don't require electricity?

Here, I brought my own food to avoid the poison that you are serving your guests.

I judge a person, not by how much gluten they consume, but by the content of their character

Same here.

My dog's skin was getting real red, and he was constantly scratching and shedding like crazy a few months ago. The vet recommended going on a gluten free diet, and he has gotten much better. He actually barely sheds anymore, probably the lowest since we got him about 5 years ago.
