For doing a reality show. I agree with pretty much everything Magary wrote. http://deadspin.com/michael-sam-is-doin ... socialflow |

In the comments: This is absolutely disgusting. I've gone a long time pretending this shit didn't exist, and that was perfectly fine until it started getting thrown in my fucking face. This has gone too far. Now I'm going to have to explain to my children that OWN is an actual TV network. |

Pretty clear since the outset that Mills wants to be "The Gay Jackie Robinson" Problem is Robinson just wanted to play baseball And Robinson was good at baseball |

Will be interesting to see the ratings if they go through with this. I would think the audience target isn't huge. Not sure. One bad thing is this gives bullets to those that think he announced in order to get drafted and this show is further bs. |

Some mouthy rookie bitching about not being picked in the top three rounds with a tv show on the Oprah network and, oh by the way, gay .... yeah, he's really gonna have a fun time in the locker room of an NFL team even after the Dolphins nonsense from last year. |

When an actually good professional athlete comes out as gay then we can celebrate that person. Sam and Collins came out to make sure they got jobs. Not a bad strategy but they arent really brave trailblazers here either. |

Smart kid. Found a way to monetize his being burrito. Though, should probably focus on making the Rams practice squad. Those cats make like 300K. Can't imagine he's making that much from the show. Maybe a career in burrito motivational speaking? |

I wouldn't even focus on making the practice squad. While I'm sure he'd be more marketable if he actually made the team, he can do pretty well for himself without actually having to play football. If I had to guess, I don't even think he actually wants to play football and is just going through the motions for the money and banking on fools hate-paying attention to him like people do with Bernstein to increase his popularity and earning potential. Smart guy, or at least has REAL SMART GUYS around him. |

No problem with anything he is doing. He has a small window to make a lot of money and he's trying to maximize his earning potential. Good for him and his family. |

Collins just became gay at the same time that he got old and washed up? Sam just became gay when he was entering a loaded draft that he was in danger of falling out of? What a stunning pair of coincidences... I dont blame either of these guys for using the opportunity to make some cash. I just dont think these guys should be put on the three dollar bill quite yet. |

the whole thing is lame. any seventh round pick should work his ass off, keep his mouth tightly shut, and pray he makes the team. |

Hank Scorpio wrote: Sam just became gay when he was entering a loaded draft that he was in danger of falling out of? Didn't realize coming out was the same as "becoming gay"...whatever that means. Sounds like the next Tributosaurus show. What other lessons can you teach the class about homosexual behavior? Quote: I dont blame either of these guys for using the opportunity to make some cash. I just dont think these guys should be put on the three dollar bill quite yet. Sure..... |

Hank's contention (and you can judge whether you agree or not with the assessment of course) was that these two cats "came out" at a time just tad beyond coincidental with their need to push their stock as a professional athlete when their pure ability as an athlete wasn't quite serving them as well on its own merit. Ergo it's dubious to suggest they are in any real way the same as, for example, Jackie Robinson (which is to say Robinson was just trying to be himself, not market himself). |

Sam was projected to be a third/fourth round pick prior to the combine. To say he came out to ensure he was drafted is at best distorting the timeline of events and at worst straight up idiotic. |

This is exactly what people were talking about when they said that Sam could be a distraction. A TV production crew following him around at Rams camp would most certainly be considered a distraction. The Rams cant be happy about this. If Sams was serious about being an NFL player, he would be working to improve on the God awful numbers that he put up at the NFL combine. |
