They turn down the programming and have you turn up the tv and absolutely crank up the volume on commercial breaks and you're listening to that soulless bitch singing to a pretzel bun at 85 decibels.
Wasn't there supposed to be a law or an FCC regulation preventing that practice?

So turn down your TV. Or is that too hard for you?

This stupid movie has a listed running time of 112 minutes and it's on for 3 hours.
That's a lot of commercial breaks.

Well at least you acknowledge your total lack of self awareness.

We've had Darko calling other people twats while whining about turning down his TV, and Seacrest telling people they only use the Bible to push their beliefs on others all in 24 hours. This really has been a banner day for CSFMB.

You really should consider getting back on your lithium.

Great channel on XM.

Hey a question. Why would somebody as libertarian as you be bitching that the FCC doesn't regulate something?

A super genius such as yourself should have been able to see the difference between bitching that something sshould be regulated and asking if there wasn't a law passed concerning the issue.
Yes. Should be able to see the difference.

But sadly... did not.

I find this insight shocking. Absolutely shocking.

You shouldn't care if a law was passed. And if a law was passed you should bitch about it. You're libertarian. There should be no regulation at all. They should be able to blast commercials at any volume they want and you shouldn't care one bit. It's their right. Why should anybody give a damn who it inconveniences?

Sooooo you think a libertarian and an anarchist are the same thing?
You should probably stop now before you embarrass yourself.
Well that's too late but it could get worse.

Ask any TV station this question and you’ll get the same answer, “the commercials are no louder than any of the other programming we broadcast — they just sound louder.”

It’s true, the station isn’t turning up the volume when the commercials run, but that’s not the complete answer. Otherwise, you wouldn’t need to reach for the remote to turn down the volume during the commercial break. So what’s really going on here? This gets a little complicated, so stick with me on this.

The Federal Communications Commission does not specifically regulate the volume of TV programs or TV commercials. However, broadcasters are required to have equipment that limits the peak power they can use to send out their audio and video signals. That means the loudest TV commercial will never be any louder than the loudest part of any TV program.

A TV program has a mix of audio levels. There are loud parts and soft parts. Nuance is used to build the dramatic effect. Most advertisersdon’t want nuance. They want to grab your attention. To do that, the audio track is electronically processed to make every part of it as loud as possible within legal limits. “Nothing is allowed to be subtle,” says Brian Dooley, Editor-At-Large for CNET.com. “Everything is loud – the voices, the music and the sound effects.”

It's not the commercial. It's the shitty production departments at tv stations that don't re-record the spots that agencies deliver to them.
