You are slowly making the game of professional football unwatchable with the additional penalties. The constant game stoppages for questionable defensive penalties are ridiculous.

It's going to be a slow slide for the NFL. I am already upset by the constant flags for too much celebrating. Now they're slowing down an already slow game with penalties for all sorts of things. They have already added penalties to protect the receivers and QB's. As safety becomes a bigger focus for the NFL (which I understand), the quality of the game is going to decline.

It will be gone by week 1 like most points of emphasis.

Most, but not all of the "emphasis" calls will be gone. It will be noticeably slower.

Challenges and reviews are the number one thing slowing down the game. Get rid of those.

while I know they keep talking about making the games move faster, do you think they really care that much?

amazed they havent done more with the replay? How about actually showing what the guy is looking at in NYC? Get a HD angle, let the ref use a pointer, get it sponsored, sell a special TV with different angles.

Just get rid of the refs and make steroids mandatory.

While this doesn't help, all of the TV timeouts slow the game down more than anything. Touch down, extra point, commercial. Kickoff, commercial. Run 3 plays, punt, commercial. Run 4 plays, team calls timeout, commercial.

Offense is exciting but so was great defense. Doesn't look like we'll see much of it anymore.

DVR. It does take the level of excitement down a notch maybe...but love watching the game(s) this way and skip all the timeouts and general bullshit (salute). I agree that more penalties will suck given that I think the pace of games are to slow already.

The National Football League doesn't usually pay the act that performs at halftime during the Super Bowl. But in a twist this year, the league has asked artists under consideration for the high-profile gig to pay to play, according to people familiar with the matter.

The NFL has narrowed down the list of potential performers for the 2015 Super Bowl to three candidates: Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Coldplay, these people said. While notifying the artists' camps of their candidacy, league representatives also asked at least some of the acts if they would be willing to contribute a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig.

The NFL is kind of the worst.

Goodell hasn't helped, but this problem started before he was commissioner.

The game is and has been too complicated...is too slow...and continues to get worse. Unfortunately, it keeps raking in the $$ so we won't see anything get better.

I am able to watch and enjoy the Bears, but a few years ago, I reached a point where watching other games at my leisure is just not enjoyable.

Try explaining the rules and strategies of the NFL to your kid....it's really, really difficult.
