Really? A 15-minute rain and you can't get the tarp on the field to prevent the game from being called four hours later? Bush league organization.

Just wait until those revenue streams kick in . Then they'll be able to afford the automatic tarp

In fairness, I think it must have been a sudden and ferocious rain. I don't believe it rained at all by me and I'm only about five miles away. My wife volunteers at an historic home on the Gold Coast and the building sustained serious damage. I found it hard to believe that it rained so hard just a few miles away.

I do remember a Sox/Cubs game at Wrigley about ten years ago where the Sox were going to win and they called the game before the fifth because the field wouldn't drain. And it had hardly rained at all. That was before they brought Bossard over to re-do the field.

Jerry would have had the game called off, and rescheduled for a saturday double header.

Every single reporter/media person last night was saying it was the umpires fault, not the grounds crew. Kasper, Miles, Wittenmeyer, etc were saying this as it was happening.

Even when they first came back from commercial when the rain started, Kasper said something like "they are gonna try and play through this even though it's coming down pretty hard".

Denied. The crew can't come out until the umpire calls them out.

What, did you see how they screwed the tarp up bringing it out? They rolled it out and didn't even have it on the whole infield, I don't think the umpires are in charge of the proper way to roll out a tarp. Hopefully the Cubs have some top notch prospects coming up for this also.

They shouldn't have had all those players do the ice bucket challenge on the field right before they rolled it out.

One spot in the 2014 draft was the difference between Rodon and Schwarber.

It went from no rain to downpour within about 15 seconds after the JRW game ended.

That is shocking. Unless I read the rule wrong it states mechanical tarp failure. Last mechanical tarp was at old Busch I believe. Whatever. Edwin Jackson sucks mule balls.
