Full disclosure - I hate Tim Beckman.

But, why the need to joke about The Tim Beckman Show now being on your air. Just today, after an infrequent win no less, I heard Bernstein, Boers, Laurence, and Herb each and separately joke about the show being on....at 10pm.

I had to listen around The Oliver Purnell Show being broadcast at 8pm weekly for decades with nary a snarky comment.

Anybody mock the White Sox show?

Of course it's a thing to make fun of people on your station. It means you are cool. Dahl did it for years until Lujack walked in and threatened to kick his ass. I was listening that day, classic stuff.

Not on The Score, it isn't.

Go Cats!

NIU Sports This Week

The Oliver Purnell Show

No jokes on that stuff.

Tim Beckman Show. Different.

I root for the Illini too. You have to admit,Beckman comes off like a dork. His coaching is gutless as I pointed out in the Illini thread but he has an OC who has the team moving. To Terry & Dan's credit,I remember the both of them mocking Beckman on his fist presser 3 years ago. So they remain consistent.

Beckman is a jackass. That's not the point.

Bernsie in particular is reticent to ever criticize a CBS product, so why this?

And they absolutely did not mock him on his first visit. They just took clips from it later to mock him after he was gone.

I wish they had mocked him right away to get the clock started on people hating him.

No, I meant during his press conference. They did the usual joke/sarcasm talkovers while the conference was going on in Champaign.

He's a tool. I met him before he ever coached a game and I hated him.

B&B used to rip Fitz but not anymore.

What NIU sports are on The Score? None to my knowledge.

Most radio program directors won't tolerate on air talent criticizing other shows on their station. The Score has a program director, but he doesn't direct programming. It's his station to program, but he doesn't program that station.

I was shocked at how he couldn't recognize social cues in a conversation. Totally oblivious to the surroundings. I was thinking how can this guy recruit?

And that's from me - who couldn't carry on a conversation with........a good conversationalist...

No generosity there.

Shrew is really rough. I'm sad. So why do you not like this Beckman guy?

Bad communicator. Bad coach.

One more strike and I fear for his success.

I don't know what that means. I'm a bad communicator.

howard stern made a career out of cutting on other jocks who did talk shows that were OBVIOUSLY howard's show (you know, the show where the people talk into microphones and occasionally say funny things with a cast of zany miscreants who contribute akin to a circus sideshow) and he'd dish it out and talk mad shit (if he wasnt dong the "who are they, robin?" thing) and blah blah blah he totally embraced radio wars....

....until the other guys hit back and howard would go to management and issue a cease and desist order to the competition and literally have them fired/sued/etc if they refused to cease and desist.

i cant find the clip where hannity or somebody on fox news was interviewing him and he outright boasted that he put the gag order on his competitors, but hey, all's fair in love and giving howard gobs of $$$, eh?

Nobody comes off as a bigger dork than Fitz. And even though I dislike Beckman as much as Doc does, I'm not sure he isn't a better coach than Fitz. It's just that, even now, there are lower expectations for Northwestern. Six wins is still considered a good season for Evanston's Big Ten Team. It gets you run out of Champaign.

I'm Dan Bernstein, dammit! I'm the smartest and the funniest and I will bully anyone I want any way I want!
I'm Terry Boers, I'll parrot better than any parrot to make things seem dumb or silly.
I'm LawenceHolmes, my thoughts are their thoughts, their objects of attention are my objects of attention.
And I'm Herb, that I'm in this radio message board tree thread post is validation for me whichever way the wind blows.

We Are, CBS radio Chicago!

They used to have at least football, maybe not basketball. They've recently upgraded to Illini sports.

But, they used to have the coach's show on Saturday mornings, hosted by some students. I get that weekends are off the radar of the regular hosts in this era of the Score which is probably why it was never commented on.

Bernstein takes sides with Northwestern because he wants his kid to go there.

The rest of them follow him.

I don't think that is his plan, but I do know he enjoys taking his kid to football and basketball games and making a call to Jim Phillips to get good seats, meat the coaches and free swag, as he does with the Blackhawks, Cubs and Sox. So, if he can use you...then you are OK. Its the meatpants mantra as well.

They had a full slate of NIU football and some basketball on nights that didn't conflict with DePaul or the Blackhawks (when the Score had the Blackhawks, obv). They both had the same play-by-play guy with the uber-corny radio-puking voice. It was like someone doing an impression of someone doing an impression of Bernstein's impression of Chuck Swirsky. It was that over the top.

i wonder if the big ten is finally realizing that when you hire a bench of mediocre MAC coaches... your talent level sinks and you become a joke of a conference
