For running ads on their stations trying to make dish network look like the bad guy in their dispute over carriage fees.... fuck you and your over inflated self worth.... my TV bill is high enough as it is and i'm glad some providers dont just take it in the rear everytime you come back asking for insane fees for your shit tv channels... do you think most people are going to be dumb enough to blindly call Dish Network and do your dirty work for you?

I have some archaic, or entirely fabricated, idea that cable and satellite companies are required to carry over-the-air signals without fail as part of any and all viewing packages ... so you can see where I'm somewhat puzzled by their claim that they might not carry CBS anymore as I didn't think they really had a choice.

Anyone have any idea where I got that (apparently idiotic) notion?

Based on the very little amount of research I just did, it sounded like cable providers were bound to this requirement, while satellite providers must only carry all the local channels if they carry any of them. Guessing in a case like this where a station is holding out for more money, the requirement doesn't apply.

Again, very little research.

All you need is a digital antenna to get CBS.

That's what I thought but CBS is now offering their broadcast shows plus thousand of other old CBS properties for 6.95 a month. That might have something to do with this. (This does not include live sporting events though)

I live in an area where you need to mount a big antenna on the roof if you hope to get anything

Assuming you're correct, and I don't know why I wouldn't, wouldn't that mean they'd have to shut off all the local channels and not just CBS?

I have one TV with an indoor HD antenna. I can get all channels (on a good day) but never CBS. That hasn't changed in 50 years of watching TV. CBS always had the weakest signal in the northern burbs and some parts of Chicago.

I have DISH and so I do care. I saw the same crawl during last night's Hawks game. I would not enjoy loosing comcast especially during hockey season.

Further it is truly annoying when the satellite TV companies and broadcasters involve the viewers in their pricing squabbles. What other industry does this??
